The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Specialist will manage the delivery of Save the Children's Psychosocial Support Programs for children, families and caregivers affected by Hurricane Michael. This position will provide technical support for psychosocial program implementation for Save the Children’s PSS offerings including Psychological First Aid, HEART, Shelter from the Storm and Journey of Hope. The PSS Specialist will be responsible for supporting the assessment, partner identification, training, and logistics of these programs to ensure accountability and quality program delivery. This position will report to the Associate Director of Florida Recovery Programs.

As a frontline representative of Save the Children, the position holder is required to ensure the safety and protection of children and families that the incumbent comes in contact with and to represent the agency values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity and Integrity.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Lead the technical support of Psychosocial Support Programs (30%)

  • Manage ongoing assessment child protection and mental health sectors in the wake of Hurricane Michael and ensure needs are reflected in program strategy and implementation
  • Develop and maintain implementation plans ensuring program goals are met
  • Monitor program budget to ensure program plans are aligned and goals are met
  • Work closely with the finance team to manage the grant process and workflow for PSS program implementation grant recipients ensuring timely communication, execution and reporting.
  • Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure the effective monitoring and evaluation of PSS programs, including programs implemented through partners. This included ensuring all beneficiary data is accurately tracked and reported.
  • Complete required program and donor reporting
  • Conduct site visits and regular program fidelity checks.

Assist Partners with Program Implementation (45%)

  • Serve as immediate point of contact for implementing partners coordinating all training and programing implementation
  • Manage partner agreements and facilitate sub-granting process to programming partners
  • Assist partners with program rollout strategy and program design.
  • Serve as technical support for implementing partners.
  • Conduct Training of Facilitator trainings for Save the Children's psychosocial programming offerings.

Operational Support (15%)

  • Coordinate the procurement of program supplies and materials
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with program managers of other technical sectors to ensure integration and delivery of holistic programs to targeted communities.
  • Coordinate with US Programs Headquarter leads to ensure that all required support needs are identified and technical support is requested based on need.
Educational Background: 
High School diploma required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience project management in child protection, psychosocial or mental health programs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated partner management experience and skills
  • Experience working with other NGOs and child-serving organizations and coordinating inter-agency activities, developing strategies and information products.
  • Experience of delivering training, presentations and other capacity building activities to varied audiences.
  • Patience, adaptability, flexibility, and ability to improvise and remain responsive and to communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.
  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, child protection, psychology or related field in a relevant subject
  • FL Licensure in Social Work or Counseling.
  • Previous experience working in a school and community organization context
  • Previous experience delivery disaster recovery or other humanitarian programs
  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and verbal
