Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy and Operations, the SC2C Data Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and support to align and oversee the collection, management, and architecture of all data for SC2C. This includes facilitating the Data Network (a data advisory group), conducting or contracting research, and designing, implementing and supporting all data planning, management, analysis, visualization and presentation. The Data Manager will lead the data analysis to measure the impact of the initiative’s work and facilitate evidenced-based decision making and continuous improvement. A critical piece of the position is supporting and educating the Community Action Networks (working groups of SC2C), partner organizations, and the community in the planning, implementation and understanding of data collection and analysis. The Data Manager will work closely with Stamford Public Schools and their data department to access and analyze school data in support of community-wide educational objectives. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to communicate and successfully work with diverse individuals and groups.
Leadership
- Works closely with SC2C Leadership to facilitate change and data-driven decision making through the provision of timely and meaningful information and data.
- Works with key community partners to develop a comprehensive system that incorporates data across the educational pipeline from birth through college and career.
- Provides tools and supports to assist community partners through change management necessary to implement and sustain proposed improvements.
- Facilitates SC2C’s Data Network which includes monthly meetings. The network is a group of data advisors and the Data Manager’s role will include connecting the advisors with data support needs across the initiative.
Planning and Organizing
- Designs and manages the data architecture for SC2C in close collaboration with Stamford Public Schools and other partner organizations. SC2C is currently launching the use of Clear Impact to support this data management.
- Plans for the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to measure the partnership’s impact, including project level performance measures and community-wide indicators. Planning for data collection across multiple partners and longitudinal analysis of data from across partner organizations and the schools is critically important.
- Develops effective processes and systems to monitor execution, collection, and reporting of data.
- Maintains knowledge of education and community data resources.
Data Management and Analysis
- Leads the coordination of data collection and management, including data compilation from partner, internal and external sources, and manages data quality assurance processes.
- In partnership with SC2C leadership, reports and shares data on a regular basis with partners, the community, investors, and SC2C’s Executive Team in formats that appeal to and accommodate the needs of various stakeholders and audiences. SC2C has access to Tableau for data visualization.
- Manages data sharing agreement(s) with Stamford Public Schools and other partners as needed to ensure relevant access and responsible data stewardship.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Works closely and facilitates effective communication with partners leading Community Action Networks and Community Task Force regarding planning and implementation of data practices, including developing evidence-based continuous improvement action plans and providing technical assistance where needed.
- Develops and cultivates relationships with community stakeholders, including data and research professionals in education, business, faith-based, nonprofit, philanthropic and civic sectors.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Passion for and commitment to ensuring equity and excellence in education for children in Stamford, CT.
- Strong knowledge and expertise managing data systems and processes.
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills and experience. Expert skill with Excel and other data programs, including analytical software. Experience with Clear Impact, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or PowerSchools a plus.
- Experience with Results Based Accountability strongly preferred.
- Experience with data systems integration strongly preferred.
- Experience with education and social services data, including external data sources, strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written), including ability to communicate data concepts with multiple audiences in a culturally competent manner.
- Demonstrated ability to create processes and systems, identify and initiate continuous improvement.
