The United Way of Greater St. Louis mobilizes the community with one goal in mind — helping people live their best possible lives.  To achieve this mission, we emphasize understanding outcomes, benchmarking, innovation, and measuring and communicating impact.  To position the organization to achieve these goals, the United Way is seeking an individual who will be responsible for directing the IT Department in a manner consistent with IT policies, guidelines, and PCI materials.  Responsibilities include: keeping polices and guidelines up to date, monitoring technology systems, and making recommendations regarding future changes to those systems.  Significant effort is involved with managing third party vendor relations related to servers, network, telecommunications, software, and related systems maintenance.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Director will work with departments to develop, expand, and integrate technologies into the organization’s business practices.  Areas include, but are not limited to, Constituent Relationship Management (CRM), e-commerce, inter/intra/extranet sites, etc. as needed to support organizational processes.  This role will oversee technical projects in alignment with organizational goals, direct the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes, and have significant input in the creation of annual capital and operating budgets for department while considering longer-term organizational needs. 
  • The Director will supervise team members while working closely with management, external vendors and advisors, research and recommend new products, and lead efforts identify and improve IT and business processes.
Educational Background: 
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study which provides substantial knowledge useful in computer technology and administering corporate systems
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in an equivalent Director of IT role, or a minimum of eight years’ experience demonstrating IT leadership progression.
  • Proficiency in administering Active Directory, Windows Servers, Windows PCs, and other Windows administrative functions and experience with managing cloud-based Software-as-a-Service systems such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Office365 and WordPress required, as well as proficiency in a Windows environment administration including Active Directory, SQL Server, and File and Print services.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and outsourced projects is needed.
  • Work in the nonprofit sector or in Health and Human Services is a plus, as is administrative and customization experience with Constituent Relationship Management systems such as Salesforce a plus.
