The Resource Generation Division is responsible for raising the funds necessary for United Way of Greater St. Louis to meet its mission of helping people live their best possible lives. All Resource Generation team members are committed to providing high quality prospecting, cultivating, service delivery and stewardship of donors to make their giving easy, impactful and personally meaningful.
The Director, Campaign & Corporate Accounts plays an essential role in the division’s efforts in the annual planning for and continuous quality improvement of processes associated with the annual campaign. In addition, they lead the corporate campaign team to ensure successful implementation of the United Way Annual Community Campaign and year-round engagement of, and service delivery to, traditional campaign organization accounts.
- Responsible for developing the annual action plan for the United Way Annual Community Campaign and year-round engagement of, and service delivery to, organization accounts including budget and revenue sources, performance targets and goals.
- Leads the team responsible for implementation of approved annual action plan.
- Coach, mentor and establish plans for professional development of direct reports.
- Actively research fundraising best practices and ensure knowledge of trends is share and understood by the campaign team.
- Work closely with Director, Corporate Relations to manage volunteer leadership of the United Way Annual Campaign and ensure consistent messaging to volunteers and staff.
- Provides support for goal setting.
- Monitors actual and projected progress to goal.
- Develop, evaluate and continuously improve and update donor services in areas of responsibility.
- Maintain and ensure consistent application of up-to-date policies and processes associated with areas of responsibility.
- Ensure the quality implementation of year-round engagement plans for traditional corporate accounts to deepen their relationship with United Way.
- Attend events associated with areas of responsibility, providing day-of and follow-up assistance as required.
- Participate in the creation of annual event, collateral and communications plan in coordination with Marketing & Communications.
- Participate in the development of donor segmentation, research and engagement plan to increase retention and annual giving.
- Participate in the planning and associated process creation to ensure collaboration, integration and alignment across Resource Generation teams and shared service partners across United Way.
- Continually research and share opportunities, best practices, trends and benchmark data to inform United Way and its efforts to attract, retain and engage donors.
- Actively participate in identified opportunities for professional growth, including supervisory and team meetings, trainings, and organization-wide events.
- Establish positive relationships with related internal partners, corporate, charitable, civic, community and government organizations, providing accurate and quality customer service and information to external clients and stakeholders for all inquiries.
- Contribute to the overall success of the United Way by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Key Accountabilities:
- Clearly articulate and communicate UW’s value proposition.
- Partner with companies/organizations to achieve CSR, philanthropic and community engagement goals.
- Generate grant revenue from government, tax credits, foundation and HNW individuals for prioritized initiatives.
- Increase the value and visibility of the Volunteer Center for corporate and community clients.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a variety of project management, community programming, volunteer management, communications and/or related responsibilities, with 1-2 years supervising staff preferred
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff by creating an environment for team to innovate, take reasonable risks and grow their professional skills
- Experience working with corporate and organization philanthropy
- Specific knowledge of best practices in campaign coordination and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze and summarize data for use in planning, service delivery and continuous quality improvement efforts
- Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and supportive of United Way and its philosophy, goals and role in the community
- Team oriented with a commitment to fostering strong, productive, working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and the overall community
