A dynamic, self-initiating, detailed-oriented person is needed to provide facilitative and administrative support to stakeholders working to achieve Sub-Goal #3 of the ESA Roadmap: All children and youth are and feel safe.
Community Justice broadly refers to all variants of crime prevention and justice activities that explicitly include the community in their processes and set the enhancement of community quality of life as a goal. As such, we are seeking a person committed to racial and social equity and passionate about creating systems change. The position needs someone that is capable of big picture thinking and possesses a strong working understanding of the Collective Impact framework and systems change approaches. This person will be responsible for managing complex projects, equipping and supporting stakeholders in facilitating change processes and helping to inspire commitment and action throughout the community.
Working closely with community stakeholders, the Community Justice Specialist will provide facilitative leadership in developing and implementing activities to reduce crime and violence and improve safety and child well-being. As a member of the core backbone team for ESA, key responsibilities include:
- Cultivate and maintain authentic relationships with a broad range of community stakeholders
- Provide facilitative and administrative support to coalitions and their respective work groups; this will include, but is not limited to:
- Coordination and documentation of relevant meetings and activities
- Supporting the development of detailed plans for implementing systems change strategies
- Facilitating ongoing communication within and across coalitions and stakeholder groups
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback for continuous improvement and accountability
- Assisting with various aspects of data collection, reporting, analysis and sharing
- Assessing implementation challenges and co-developing solutions to address them
- Preparation of materials and regular reports on progress
- Develop and support platforms to ensure the engagement of key stakeholder groups in systems change processes, with priority focus on youth and others with lived experience as well as law enforcement
- Support grants management functions; this will include, but is not limited to:
- Providing quality oversight over grant activities and managing sub-recipient relationships
- Supporting the timely and accurate completion of performance and financial management reporting
- Stay up-to-date on what works within the youth violence prevention and community-based crime reduction fields and inventory available tools and resources
- Supervise and support interns, practicum students and volunteers in developing and implementing relevant, meaningful and impactful projects.
- Manage special projects as assigned
- 3-5 years of work experience within related fields; experience supporting coalitions preferred
