To engage multiple constituencies in United Way of Northern New Jersey's work as volunteers, advocates and donors to support, strengthen and further United Way's mission, goals and visibility. The position provides support and management of the online volunteer resource, volunteer programs and events, community outreach, organizational volunteer management and related data management.
Areas of Responsibility:
Volunteer Engagement and Management
- Establish UWNNJ as the preferred provider of volunteer experiences for active and prospective corporate partners, individual donors and donor segments.
- Design, develop and execute positive and meaningful volunteer offerings for corporate partners that engage employees in UWNNJ's mission and contribute to the company's goals.
- Develop and maintain a network of non-profit community partners to ensure connection to UWNNJ's Impact work within the communities served.
- Maintain comprehensive database (Get Connected or the like) of vibrant and current volunteer opportunities primarily through United Way of Northern New Jersey, as well as current and active volunteers, advocacy and in-kind donation opportunities from non-profit partners throughout UWNNJ's service area.
- Partner with UWNNJ's Community Impact teams to develop, implement and evaluate volunteer engagement programs, events and strategies to strengthen and support all aspects of UWNNJ's Community Impact agenda and goals.
- Ensure taht a system for data collection and reporting as it relates to volunteer engagement is developed and maintained with reporting requirements met annually.
- Work in partnership with UWNNJ Marketing/Communications department to ensure that all volunteer engagement programs, events, activities and tools are marketed and promoted.
- Assess UWNNJ volunteer satisfaction and recognize and thank all UWNNJ volunteers annually.
- Attend community events as a representative for UWNNJ.
- Assist with promotion of all volunteer programs and activities through social media support.
Account Management
- Work with Resource Development staff to ensure Volunteer Engagement strategies are part of each company plan.
- Work collaboratively with Account Managers and RD team to support the volunteer needs of companies and their employees, including supporting and attending special events.
- Provide account support and participate on Resource Development teams to specificcorporate campaigns as needed.
- Support and assist with the development of new corporate accounts through their involvement with UWNNJ programs and volunteer events.
Corporate Volunteer Management
- Lead and assit with implementation of key UWNNJ Volunteer Engagement programs including: Day of Action; Tools for School; Days of Caring/Service; Gifts of the Season/Gift of Warmth; Book Buddies; Youth Volunteering (Varsity Letter/School Age Volunteering programs); On-site Impact Projects; Other key volunteer projects to be developed.
Grants Management
- Assist with the management of exist grant requirements and identify potential grant funding or sponsorship opportunities from local, state and national sources.
- Support the research of grant opportunities as needed.
- Support grant applications as needed.
External Involvement
- Serve as liaison and maintain exemplary relationships with key local, state and national partners, including: NJ Governor's Office of Volunteerism and Service, Association of New Jersey Volunteer Centers, Point of Light Foundation/Hands on Network, NJVOAD, local COAD/VOADs, Jersey Cares and other local volunteer centers.
- Represent UWNNJ in all local and state-wide disaster response groups and committees, including: NJVOAD, local COAD/VOAD organizations for Somerset, Morris, Sussex/Warren and Essex Counties.
- Represent UWNNJ on the Associate of New Jersey Volunteer Centers with Director.
Other
- Must comply with Employment Performance Management Plan expectations annually.
- Requires direct supervision of volunteers.
Educational Background:
Associates Degree (Bachelor's degree preferred) in social services or related field or equivalent work or volunteer experience.
Skills/Experience:
- 3-5 years of direct experience in social services or related field.
- Knowledge/experience with various types of technology including online databases and Microsoft Office in Windows environment with Excel and Word.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- 3-5 years of volunteer management experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of: volunteer programs, civic engagement, database management, fundraising campaigns; health and human sevice systems; public relations; project planning and management; sales and amrekting; fundraising; budget administration.
- Ability to: develop and maintain effective working relationships; handle sensitive inquiries from and contact with officials and general public; maintain good public relations; take photographs; maintain confidentiality of non-public or sensitive information; work independently demonstrating initiative; exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; coordinate multiple activities and tasks; originate correspondence; maintain accurate and complete work records; demonstrate personal and professional integrity and ethics on an on-going basis.
- Skill in: customer relationship management; excellent verbal and written communication; writing, editing and proofreading; operating standard office equipment; safely using tools to paint, assemble, construct, garden and clean; maintaining good public relations; application of job software programs including desktop publishing; planning, scheduling and organizing work; marketing techniques; general typing.
PERSONAL/PHYSICAL
- Ability to interact with other staff, volunteers; maintain confidentiality; demonstrate personal and professional integrity and ethics on an ongoing basis.
- Valid driver's license; NJ state compliant auto insurance; good driving record; frequent lifting, carrying or moving or positioning of materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds for work related purposes and occasions; work assigned schedule and exhibit regular and predictable attendance; schedule flexibility to attend and participate in organizational and related events and activities in the early morning, evenings and/or weekends.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $41,000 to $50,000 per year
