Hours Per Week: 40 

Location: Summit County, CO  

Pay: Starting Range: $75,000 - $85,000/year  

 

Job summary: 

The Development Director leads the Development team in four key areas: 1) directing the organization’s current individual donor fundraising activities, 2) cultivating relationships with donors, 3) overseeing marketing and public relations to tell FIRC’s story to the community, donors, and clients, and 4) developing new fundraising strategies and objectives. The Development Manager works closely with FIRC's leadership team, Development Committee, and donors.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

The person we are looking for will:

  • Communicate clearly and be confident in connecting with a variety of groups and individuals 

Primary duties: 

  • Supervise Development staff, providing leadership and direction 
  • In partnership with the Development staff and the Executive Director, coordinate the FIRC’s individual donor campaigns, special campaigns, and annual campaign, including providing input on strategy, developing materials, and implementing each campaign 
  • Oversee the maintenance of FIRC’s donor records in the organization’s Raiser’s Edge database, including data entry, keeping donor notes up to date, running reports as needed, and providing acknowledgement letters/tax receipts to donors 
  • Work with the  Board of Directors, Executive Director, Development Committee, and volunteers to develop and fulfill annual fundraising budget for operating and endowment funds 
  • Tell FIRC’s story, the stories of our clients, and the impact of our programs Develop and support fundraising events, house parties, and donor meet-ups 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Develop and execute strategies and processes for obtaining individual and business donations and major donor gifts. 
  • Oversee the maintenance of FIRC’s website (using WordPress) and social media accounts with accurate and relevant information for clients and donors in regard to: programs, events, and advocacy information, in both English and Spanish 
  • Write persuasive fundraising campaign appeal letters and provide appropriate follow-up 
  • Develop and coordinate deferred giving, major and endowment fund gifts 
  • Oversee the implementation of and maintenance of donor recognition programs and publications 
  • In partnership with the Grants & Evaluation Manager, identify gaps in funding and collaborate to create solutions 
Skills/Experience: 

General requirements of the position include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field preferred 
  • Three to five years of experience in one or more of the areas of: marketing, public relations, fundraising, or brand development preferred 
  • Experience with donor prospecting and cultivation, with the proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with donors of all types 
  • Experience with fundraising and donor management software; Raiser’s Edge/Financial Edge specific experience preferred 
  • Effectively demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, ideally in English and Spanish 
  • Experience in working with diverse communities and programs advocating for equity 
  • Experience with WordPress, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite and design 
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable year-round transportation is required 
  • Pass a background check and E-verify

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in other meeting spaces where variable conditions could exist.
