Plans, organizes and manages multiple resource development activities including, but not limited to, special events, workplace giving and in-kind support. Also works as a team member implementing marketing strategies of Valley United Way.
Reports to: VP of Community Engagement/President
Areas of Responsibility:
- Staffs the Resource Development Committee and assures the recruitment, training, evaluation, retention and motivation of volunteers.
- Provides overall leadership to the annual fundraising activities by managing the work performed by all resource development participants.
- Develops and implements RD strategies and tactics designed to expand the number of donors and increase giving at all levels.
- Manages the fundraising activities, including preparation and execution of the annual workplace campaign
- Oversees the preparation, packaging and delivery of RD supplies.
- Creates and supervises campaign records, reports and materials and assures that progress reports are distributed to volunteers.
- Evaluates strengths and weaknesses of the RD activities and make suggestions for improvement.
- Assists the VP of Community Engagement and President in the development and management of the Commodore Hull Society (leadership giving) and the Heritage Fund (endowment fund).
- Creates and interprets reports on resource development progress.
- Develops and implements recognition for accounts and volunteers, in line with budget guidelines.
- Staffs and works in cooperation with the Marketing Committee to design a comprehensive marketing plan.
- Monitors and executes the marketing plan on the established timetable.
- Works in partnership with local media to promote and execute year-round communication techniques.
- Represents United Way at public functions.
- Seeks and actively participates in training opportunities that enhance career development and are in line with budget guidelines.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the President that are in line with the Valley United Way mission.
Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field or a combination of experience and education
Skills/Experience:
Experience Required:
- Two to three years of successful RD experience in a non-profit organization. United Way fundraising experience is a plus.
Knowledge of:
- Best practices in United Way and other fund raising techniques.
- Economic, demographic and other critical trends that impact both for profit and not for profit organizations
- Nonprofit health and human service sector. Community relations, public relations and program management.
- Financial and statistical data.
- Volunteer management and training.
- MIS functions and report development, in a variety of software programs including Excel, Access and Word.
