The Community Impact Director is a full-time, grant-funded position. Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual will collaboratively develop, implement, manage and evaluate programs meeting JCUW’s community impact goals in the areas of education, financial stability, and health. This role is accountable for all aspects of JCUW’s community impact agenda, as well as collaborative events and projects in the community. The focus of the Community Impact Director is on increasing partnerships and collaborations for getting people out of poverty, facing the drug epidemic, increasing health coverage for residents and increasing community connectedness.
This position will work closely with the local CKF coalition and Covering Kids & Families of Indiana, Inc. (CKF-IN) to achieve CKF-IN’s strategic goals of ensuring access to health care by the uninsured and underinsured. This position will develop, implement and evaluate outreach, enrollment, and retention work plans within the guidelines stipulated in the lead agency’s contractual agreement with CKF-IN. The position will also provide direct staff support to the local coalition and its working committees and also oversee enrollment, retention and outreach strategies and work with groups and individuals in the implementation of appropriate work assignments.
This position requires considerable initiative, creativity, independent judgment, strategic planning skills, management skills, and the ability to assume significant responsibility with supervision. The CI Director will work with United Way Impact committee members, CKF Coalition members, and volunteers to design objectives and strategies that accomplish the community impact goals.
- Research and recommend evidence based approaches to getting people out of poverty and engaging residents in choosing healthy relationships and a healthy life style.
- Develop strong partnerships, strategies, and metrics for moving the approaches recommended into action.
- Assist with Community Partner Certification, Fund Distribution, and Program RFP process.
- Track programmatic as well as community level data with a focus on outcomes and their measurement.
- Ensure community impact work involves a broad spectrum of constituents, well beyond traditional partnerships.
- Support and attend Quarterly Community Partner Meetings.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships, supervise, and evaluate community impact volunteers.
- Provides technical assistance and training to non-profit organizations, particularly in the area of program evaluation and outcomes measurements; while building and maintaining positive working relationships with a broad array of community partners.
- Oversee and co-develop outreach and enrollment activities to ensure access to health coverage.
- Attend necessary training approved by Family Social Service Administration and local Office of Family and Children in order to successfully complete Hoosier Healthwise, Healthy Indiana Plan, and Marketplace applications.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with coalition partners and community resources that have access to uninsured individuals.
- Attend meetings and participate in conference calls as requested.
- Obtain and maintain Indiana Navigator certification and Indiana Application Counselor certification.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personally identifiable information.
- Other duties as mandated by the position.
- Fluent in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Self-Starter who is adept at multi-tasking; must possess a positive, high-energy, can-do attitude.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including presentations and public speaking.
- Leadership experience, including strong skills in team-building, facilitating, and relationship building skills.
- Must be able to establish a rapport and successfully cultivate relationships with members of diverse groups.
- Knowledge of a community’s social service systems, with experience in analyzing community data and knowledge of outcomes and community measurement.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.
- Obtain and maintain Indiana Navigator certification and Indiana Application Counselor certification.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies that grow relationships with community partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; and experience facilitating meetings.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, and has demonstrated ability to travel to work in a variety of locations throughout Jackson County whenever required.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and supply boxes up to approx. 30 lbs.
- Ability to effectively communicate the CKF-IN message through various media.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal health coverage programs.
- Demonstrated fundraising ability, ability to manage budgets.
