United Way of King County is a recognized leader in solving the community’s toughest challenges. Join our team as our newest Emerging Leaders Program Manager. United Way’s Emerging Leaders program currently has nearly 9,500 young professionals in their 20s and 30s, and is built around three pillars: volunteering, networking events, and giving. This position is part program development and part event creation and execution.
This position is responsible for managing and growing the Emerging Leaders program and producing high-quality events to engage members and convert them to donors at the Emerging Leaders 365 level. Responsibilities include executing an Emerging Leaders strategic marketing plan, leading an internal staff team of 2-3 core members, producing Emerging Leaders events, creating Emerging Leaders content, and staffing a committee of approximately 20 volunteers.
- Leads a cross-functional team with Brand, Community Services, and Development to grow the program and offer young professionals meaningful ways to engage with the community and United Way.
- Day to day program management and logistics including evaluation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Plans and executes a range of events to drive acquisition of new Emerging Leaders and to convert existing Emerging Leaders to donors.
- Works with vendors to secure in-kind, cash donations and discounts for events including food & beverage and venue rental.
- Supports the Associate Director of Affinity Marketing in developing and implementing a communication plan to effectively recruit and engage Emerging Leaders.
- Serves as the primary writer for Emerging Leaders materials including newsletter, talking points, event communication, printed pieces and web content.
- Works with the Social Media Strategist to leverage United Way's social media presence to connect with and expand this group.
- Staffs the Emerging Leaders Committee and actively engages volunteers to grow the Emerging Leaders program.
- Builds and manages the annual Emerging Leaders budget – including events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Proven ability to negotiate discounts and in-kind from event and media partners.
- Demonstrated creativity and strategic thinking.
- Masterful at leveraging existing organizational relationships to discover and secure new opportunities.
- Strong content/copywriting background for both digital and print, and basic understanding of SEO.
- Excellent writing, verbal, and public speaking skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment, make decisions, apply interpersonal and customer service skills, participate in a creative team environment, and use discretion
- Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple work requests and/or deadlines and to prioritize work in an environment of changing requests for support.
- Five years’ experience in marketing including at least 3 years’ in event management. Experience leading a cross-functional team is a must; experience coordinating high-level volunteers desirable.
The annual recruitment range is $67,100 to $70,100, depending on successful experience and prior accomplishments.
