The Database Developer is responsible for designing, testing, deploying, and documenting data, stored procedures, system configuration and other developed code necessary to support reporting and application projects. Using an iterative approach, the Database Developer partners with the Data Team, data analysts, project managers, and other key roles to build and deploy code that supports business application and reporting solutions. This position documents technical information, metadata and relevant support information for deliverables. The role develops the organization’s internally built web applications, as well as supports cloud and on-premises based enterprise systems. The Database Developer is responsible for the smooth functioning of our integrations between systems, such as Dynamics 365 and our Operational Data Store (ODS).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Designs and maintains SQL table structures and views to support ongoing reporting and application requirements.
  • Assists in deploying code iteratively in an effort to continually implement and improve new and existing functionality.
  • Develops and maintains change control and quality assurance procedures for code modifications and ensures all code meets business and performance standards for production database usage.
  • Maintains and implements revisions and additions to data integrations using integration software.
  • Recommends and provides guidance regarding data integration, database development, and best practices and standards to the development team members.
  • Works closely with software vendor support to report and resolve implementation and maintenance issues.
  • Plans and coordinates system deployments, data migration, and other release activities as required.
  • Manages the development and implementation of database security and maintenance standards and procedures. 
  • Plays a key role in the planning, development, implementation, and support of future United Way applications, including the adoption of new technology. 
  • Partners closely with peers to diagnose and resolve data issues and investigate solutions.
  • Partners with Business Intelligence and Data Teams to produce and support ad-hoc reporting.
  • Monitors the state of our data and conducts data cleaning to rid the system of old, unused data, or duplicate data for better management and quicker access.
  • Provides status reporting as requested in support of IT Project Portfolio Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in information systems management, computer science, or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Intermediate proficiency in using Microsoft products such as MS Dynamics 365, Visual Studio, SQL Server, T-SQL, Power BI or comparable reporting, Visual Basic and VB.NET, as well as JavaScript, ASP and HTML knowledge
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with diverse technical and non-technical personnel
  • Integration experience
  • Cloud database experience
  • Proven interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated cross-team collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skills, proven ability to manage multiple work requests and/or deadlines
  • Proven ability to prioritize work in an environment of changing requests for support

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have five (5) years’ experience in programming and application development, and database administration.
  • Cloud database and integration software experience preferred. An understanding of business processes and the technology platforms that enable them also preferred.
  • The annual recruitment range is from $73,500 to $78,500, depending on successful experience and prior accomplishments.
