Business Development Director - Puget Sound

The Business Development Director is responsible for the Seattle Heart Ball campaign featuring the Evening with Heart Gala event. Through bringing together corporate partners, medical leaders, community leaders, and other volunteers of the community to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke, we know we can make a significant difference. The campaign’s fundraising goal is $695,000 this fiscal year.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Identifying, recruiting and mobilizing corporate and community leaders to build an effective Executive Leadership Team to raise funds through the Heart Ball campaign.
  • Developing pipelines of top businesses to ensure revenue generation through corporate sponsorship for Heart Ball.
  • Conducting sales calls to generate new business and manage existing corporate sponsors and individual donors.
  • Developing and monitoring an annual working plan that deepen volunteer leadership pipelines, revenue opportunities, budget and timelines for the events. Developing contingency plans, as needed to successfully meet fundraising goals.
  • Leading cultivation opportunities to strengthen relationships with volunteers, sponsors & key corporate & community leaders to advance our mission.
  • Expanding our reach into the philanthropic community of individuals participating in our Open Your Heart (personal giving) campaigns to raise funds and awareness.
  • Networking within the local area and recruiting and retaining our valued volunteers.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years successful experience in fundraising, sales or marketing
  • Ability to recruit, train and manage leadership volunteers to achieve goals
  • Ability to thrive in a results-driven and collaborative environment with highly effective organization, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed

Here are some of the preferred experience/skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with the American Heart Association or similar non-profit experience in a fundraising position
  • Experience in closing high level corporate sponsorship
  • Experience working with individual giving
  • Comfortable with B2B networking and outreach including cold calls
