Responding to the urgent need for increasing the number of permanently affordable homes in King County, the Development Coordinator (Fundraising) raises vital funds and support that makes it possible for our talented staff to build new homes and support homeowners in success. This position is responsible for coordinating charitable giving activities including grants, donations and events management. Homestead seeks a results-oriented fundraising professional to maintain and sustain outreach to individual donors and to manage grant submissions and reporting. This position reports to the Executive Director and is ideal for the candidate who wishes to grow into a more senior fundraising role.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Individual Donors (50%)

Develop and cultivate relationships to grow the donor base and increase gifts from individuals, with emphasis on major donors.

  • Support the Executive Director and Board of Delegates to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects and donors.
  • Project manage all special events related to cultivation of donors and fundraising (Breakfast of Champions, Dinner Party, HomeGames).
  • Solicit and secure sponsorships of special events.
  • Create and maintain transactions pages for events and giving opportunities using SalesForce and Click and Pledge.

Grants Calendar Management (30%)

Expand and strengthen our approach to operating and program funding grants cultivation including corporate and private foundations.

  • Develop detailed understanding of Homestead’s use of public and private grants and subsidies.
  • Research public and private grant opportunities that fit Homestead’s operating profile and funding priorities.
  • Create and manage Homestead’s grant submission schedule in SalesForce.
  • Coordinate the gathering of information (budgets, materials, evaluation reports, etc.) to support grant requests and reporting.
  • Track the fulfillment of grants with program staff and serve as an ongoing liaison to funders.
  •  Identify contacts within granting organizations and arrange meetings with them and Homestead’s Executive Director.

Infrastructure (20%)

  • Maintain the systems needed to run a best-practices fundraising program.
  • Enter and maintain complete and accurate fundraising data in Salesforce CRM.
  • Update monthly reports on grant activity for Board of Delegates and Board committees.
  • Work closely with Homestead’s Finance Director and Business Manager to ensure financial and narrative reports to funders are accurate and on-time.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Operations Manager and Executive Director to ensure that funds are properly recorded and that grant budgets and reports are in alignment.
  • In 2018, we will research and prepare to update SalesForce to the most recent Nonprofit Management package available. This is a significant project that will require detailed planning and comfort with technology.

 

Perform all other duties as necessary or assigned.

Educational Background: 
Bachelors Degree in subject matter or Equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Prior work experience in non-profit fundraising including special events management.
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with Board members, staff, volunteers, the general public and donors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to completion.
  • Experience with budget preparation and financial management, analysis, and revenue forecasting
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate or higher level proficiency with Microsoft Office, Vertical Response, and electronic donor tracking systems/databases (Homestead is committed to the Salesforce CRM which is the backbone of our entire operations).

Compensation/Benefits: 

Full time, Exempt position

$50,000, health insurance, paid sick leave and vacation, professional development, ORCA card, 403b savings plan.
