The Fair Food Program (FFP), a unique worker-led, market-driven social responsibility program that emerged from the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ successful Campaign for Fair Food. The FFP is dedicated to the development of an agricultural industry that advances the human rights of farmworkers, the long-term interests of growers, and the ethical supply chain concerns of retail food companies. The Fair Food Program is seeking a Development Director to design and implement a strategic plan to raise the funds necessary to maintain and expand the Fair Food Program. The Development Director should be based in Florida, New York or Washington, D.C.
Working closely with the leadership of CIW and FFSC, the Development Director will:
- Develop, maintain, strengthen and expand relationships with existing donors, including foundations, major individual donors, and small-dollar monthly “Sustainer” donors
- Develop foundation grant proposals and comply with reporting requirements for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and the Fair Food Standards Council
- Design and administer major fundraising events
- Attend or facilitate in-person meetings in order to solicit donations in Florida, New York, Washington D.C. and other major cities
- Communicate fundraising goals throughout the organization and train FFP staff to reach them.
- Embrace the mission of the Fair Food Program
- Knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills
- Capacity to work with and motivate staff, board members and volunteers
- Willingness to travel and build donor relationships in major cities
- Self-motivation to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
- High level of organization and capacity to follow through on tasks and goals
- Presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
- A bachelor’s degree
- Five years minimum experience in professional fundraising.
