Under the supervision of the Vice President of Community Benefit, the Community Benefit Coordinator (Volunteer Coordination) will recruit, process and place volunteers for the Schools of Hope (SOH) program. During peak times, this individual will work concurrently with two other Community Benefit Coordinators and may assist with volunteer placement for our Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program.
Areas of Responsibility:
The Community Benefit Coordinator (Volunteer Coordination) will drive the growth and development our SOH program by:
- Coordinating outreach for new volunteers
- Coordinating and leading SOH volunteer orientations
- Guiding new volunteers through online signup and application completion
- Contacting veteran volunteers to assess interest in returning
- Tracking all volunteers through sign up process and following up with reminder emails and calls as needed to ensure all volunteers submit required paperwork
- Maintaining confidential volunteer records
- Matching volunteers to school sites and trainings
- Assisting in current volunteer recognition efforts while researching and developing new recognition and retention strategies
- Promoting volunteer retention through year round engagement
- Observing SOH tutoring sessions for program evaluation purposes
- Administrative assistance to the Education Program Officer
- Other duties as required
Educational Background:
High School Diploma. Associate Degree
Skills/Experience:
- Passionate about UWWC’s mission
- Basic level of knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent problem solving skills, research skills and ability to follow through
- Ability to operate office equipment, including copiers, printers, fax machines and scanners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfort with speaking in front of medium sized audiences
- Strong organizational skills
- Capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines while anticipating quickly changing needs
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Work both independently and as a collaborative team member
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times
- High level of dependability showing up at work on time, following instructions, responding to management direction and soliciting feedback to improve performance
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have ability to perform work that requires sitting, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
- Have experience using online databases to record and report information
- Have prior experience with mentorship or tutoring programs
- Have 2+ years of experience with community outreach or volunteer management
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Compensation/Benefits:
- Hourly wage of $19 to $21 DOE
