Development (Fundraising) Director

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Development (Fundraising) Director in our Central Coast Division . The Director, in collaboration with volunteers and staff, plans and implements assigned campaigns to more deeply and broadly engage our communities in advancing our life-saving mission.

This is a remote (home-officed) position based in the Central Coast / San Luis Obispo County currently up through June 2019.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Achieves an established fundraising goal through a combination of corporate sponsorship and participant/individual giving, working to maintain and grow established donor accounts and generating new business
  • Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting and activating executive leadership volunteer committees in both the corporate and medical communities
  • Provides staff support in planning, development, maintenance, implementation and evaluation of fundraising campaigns according to best practices, benchmarks and timelines to achieve the overall net fundraising goal
  • Demonstrates strong customer focus and attention to detail in delivering exceptional account management
  • Conducts active community and B2B networking and outreach through 10+ face to face meetings on weekly basis with donors, volunteers and sponsors
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years successful experience in fundraising, sales or marketing
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers to achieve established goals
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including skill in making presentations to large and small audiences
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed

Here are some of the preferred experience/skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with the American Heart Association or similar non-profit experience in a fundraising position
  • Experience in closing corporate sponsorship
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
