The Senior Coordinator– Community Engagement will support the program unit of Save the Children’s Hurricane Maria relief and recovery efforts. The Community Engagement Senior Coordinator is the first point of contact for Save the Children’s programming in the community and will build and maintain key partnerships which enable Save the Children to carry out recovery and resilience programs for children. Focusing on three to four municipalities, the Coordinator will collect and record high quality data in a timely manner and will regularly monitor programs in their area of responsibility. S/He will raise awareness of Save the Children programs and will mobilize communities around recovery, resilience and disaster preparedness programs that will enable positive change for children.
- Carry out detailed needs assessments of communities in areas of responsibility report high-quality and timely assessment data;
- Build partnerships with schools, childcare, community organizations and other child-focused community partners, to share Save the Children’s emergency preparedness and resilience resources, best practices and training opportunities.
- Mobilize the community to identify child-focused resilience and recovery activities and deliver capacity building and support to community based organizations on Save the Children sub-grant processes
- Closely monitor and support community based organizations sub-grantees to implement quality and timely resilience and recovery activities for children
- Manage partner communication, providing timely follow-up and collecting feedback.
- Coordinate with communities to schedule, plan and implement emergency preparedness trainings and programs in areas of responsibility.
- Directly deliver Prep Rally program to children in partner communities and schools and/or train teachers and partners to deliver program and deliver Prep Rally go-bags.
- Directly deliver Preparatory School Emergency Preparedness Training and support school to enhance emergency preparedness
- Represent Save the Children in coordination forums at sub-regional level including Long Term Recovery Groups (FEMA) and with other local coordination bodies.
- Represent children's needs in emergencies and recovery in the community, potentially presenting on children's needs and Save the Children's resources at local meetings or events to build awareness. This includes being aware of and sharing Save the Children's home and family preparedness resources and programs (Get Ready Get Safe tools and materials).
- Support train-the-trainer sessions or/and caregiver/teacher-level training of Save the Children's preparedness and resilience programs.
- Ensure quality and timely collection of training and program data and evaluations and ensure accountability mechanisms are actively implemented and used in all community programming.

- 3-4 years of relevant experience including community outreach and relationship building
- Fluency in Spanish, both written and verbal
- Resource management, training, capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent personal organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills- must be comfortable and confident working with a wide range of people, including children.
- Strong analytical skills to understand needs of partners, stakeholders and community and translate this into programmatic activities
- Experienced using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Knowledge of emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction
- Experience and proven ability to create an environment which encourages team-working and motivates a team across various geographical areas.
- Experience and interest in working directly with children
- Experience volunteering or working with a community driven project or group
- Proficiency in conversational English, both written and verbal, is highly desired
