This position represents an opportunity to leverage those skills and to work with a team of committed professionals working to create greater opportunities for children, youth, and families in low-income communities. 

The Data and Evaluation Director is a position reporting to the Vice President, Community Impact.  The Data and Evaluation Director is responsible for developing and implementing evaluation tools and strategies for our SparkPoint Initiative, Two Generation initiative, Youth Workforce, and other CIT programs, ranging from shared database training tools for staff, to reports used by staff and leadership to drive program development, fundraising and impact.  The Data and Evaluation Director is responsible for translating complex data into actionable metrics, designing the regional learning curriculum connected to data and evaluation, sharing our learnings externally, and for leading regional trainings and events.   The Data and Evaluation Director is also responsible for overseeing the administration of Exponent Case Management (Salesforce) database and supervising the Program Analyst and potentially other members of the Equity Team. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Evaluation and Analysis

  • Lead the design and implementation of SparkPoint and Youth Workforce data and evaluation, encompassing shared metrics across 70+ organizations.
  • Create the foundation for evaluation of SparkPoint Centers by scoping possible metrics and developing recommendations on how to track and assess them.
  • Support evaluation at the organizational level to support organizational mission, messaging, and best practices for organizational and programmatic improvement.
  • Analyze data for regional and individual partners using Salesforce, Exponent Case Management, Excel, Einstein Analytics or other data analysis software. 
  • Learn and support analysis of youth employment data.
  • Provide high-level summaries and analyses for sites, county leads, and program leadership on a regular basis.
  • Create custom reports, maintain current reports, and train program staff to build regional and site-level reports to provide regional and site level program data.
  • Develop and distribute analyses, instructions and tools online.  Monitor usage and adjust to ensure that tools are effective in supporting staff to track and use data.
  • Support the integration of data and evaluation efforts across multiple programs.
  • Design and implement both quantitative and qualitative program evaluations for other UWBA programs, when needed.
  • Design and lead research requests when needed.
  • Research includes finding and analyzing community-level data, regional data, and publicly available data sets
  • Work with external evaluators and act as the project lead and point of contact on external evaluations.

System Administration

  • Oversee systems that track and maintain client, student, and youth data.
  • Provide technical assistance for UWBA and partner staff in Salesforce, Exponent Case Management, or other software through system administration, monitoring data quality, adjusting and troubleshooting technical and access challenges, and keeping the site current with implementation of new software additions and system updates.
  • Serve as primary contact to Exponent Partners. Lead the migration of data to other software, as needed, working with members of the IT department, partners, and SparkPoint Centers.
  • Regional Events and Trainings
  • Design and lead regional training around data and evaluation, providing actionable insights for both partners and UWBA.
  • Develop tools and compile information to help build individual partner capacity to track impact.

Networking and Field Building

  • Communicate with external initiatives (local, state and nationwide) and learn from their evaluation efforts. 
  • Act as a point of contact with others interested in learning more about our evaluation efforts.

Fundraising

  • Lead external grant proposal and reporting processes on metrics.
  • Provide grant reporting and the regional level and support county leads when needed at site level grant reporting.
  • Participate in UWBA fundraising campaign, which may include speaking engagements at workplace campaigns on behalf of SparkPoint.

Management

  • Hire, train, and supervise staff
  • Work with other Equity Team Directors for overall management of the Equity Team.
  • Participate in Community Impact Team (CIT) directors and managers meeting to provide leadership for the entire program department
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3 - 5 years of related professional experience (building and facilitating community collaboratives, program implementation, work with public/private sector leaders/decision-makers, leadership in the community, experience in grant reporting and management).
  • 5 to 7 years of data management, analysis and evaluation required.
  • Experience supervising staff preferred.
  • Access to a car, current valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
  • Employee must be able and willing to travel as deemed necessary by his/her supervisor to all 7 counties served by UWBA. Able to work irregular hours such as early or late evening hours (before or after office hours), and sometimes weekend hours.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $71,000 to $80,000 per year
