United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County (UWSA) is recognized locally as the premier health and human services nonprofit organization with a long history of convening key stakeholders to help address critical issues facing our community. UWSA’s Executive Committee is made up of approximately 40 community leaders, and the Board of Trustees consists of 150 community leaders. Over the last 10 years, UWSA’s campaigns have increased every year with the exception of 2015 and 2017, which were due to non-repeat endowment gifts as well as the growth of evergreen and open campaigns. In 2017, UWSA’s community campaign raised $48.8 million dollars . . . a decrease from the previous year’s total of $56.3 million dollars.
Due to the leadership of many business leaders who serve on the Board of Trustees, UWSA is financially strong and is recognized for having one of the lowest overhead rates of any United Way in the country . . . currently 7.0%.
