The Volunteer Events Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements high-quality, impactful volunteer projects that engage thousands of volunteers. This includes managing three large and numerous small volunteer events; working with the collective impact and resource development teams to plan projects and recruit volunteers; coordinating in-kind donations; performing administrative duties for volunteer engagement work; and performing other duties as assigned.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plan and execute Year of Action volunteer opportunities for Read Across American Day (March), Stuff the Bus (August), and Season of Service (November-December)
- Coordinate mock interview projects
- Coordinate American Express grant project for Earth Day
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with the school, civic, and network collective impact teams to develop and plan logistics of volunteer projects
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with the resource development team to recruit corporate partners and donor network members for volunteer projects
- Coordinate in-kind donations and kit-packing projects
- Coordinate communication with Volunteer Action Network (VAN) members
- Ensure effective project management and data tracking of volunteer projects
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Educational Background:
High School Diploma
Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and project management
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing volunteer management best practices
- Ability to utilize principles of adaptive leadership and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances
- Ability to identify barriers and develop strategies to overcome them
- Ability to make sense of complex information to effectively solve problems
- Willingness to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm
- Ability to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations
- Ability to paint a compelling picture of the vision and strategy that motivates others to action
- Ability to relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people
- One or more years volunteer or event management experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in utilizing cloud-based systems
- Experience with CRM databases a plus
- Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and/or early morning work hours
- Reliable transportation
- Candidates must be able to pass UWSL background check and drug screening to hold this position
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,000 to $40,000 per year
