The VP of Donor Relations and Development (VPDRD) reports to the Chief Marketing and Engagement Officer (CMEO), is a member of the Marketing and Development (MD) department’s leadership team, and UWSL’s management team. The VPDRD will expand and diversify revenue by integrating existing resources and opportunities that increase donor participation. VPDRD will lead resource development strategies including managing the portfolios of current donors, creating and implementing new development plans and strategies to improve donor retention, increase donor engagement, and broaden our base of support. As a department leader, the VPDRD will manage 4 direct reports that lead leadership-level giving, grants, and annual multi-channel campaigns. In addition, the VPDRD will oversee, support, and assist volunteer councils and board members to participate in philanthropic support, volunteer activities, and events.
STRATEGIC VISION
- Provide key direction and support to productive strategies that maintains a major gift portfolio and builds major, transformational, leadership, planned giving, and other donor pipelines
- Provide strong leadership and direction for UWSL’s individual giving, major gifts, grant, and foundation strategies
- Create, in collaboration with leadership team, multi-channel strategies and campaigns to improve donor retention and communicate with donors about impact of their giving
- Collaborate with the Collective Impact team to align donor interests with CI strategies and opportunities
- Develop and analyze donor segmentation reports and develop targeted strategies to engage donors and make targeted asks based on donor’s motivations and behaviors
DONOR RELATIONS
- Listen to and Inspire donors to see UWSL as the nonprofit that harnesses the power of communities working together to deliver innovative and effective solutions that create change that lasts
- Generate trust among donors and potential donors by being authentically interested in their needs and interests. Find alignment with and develop UWSL strategies that meet those needs thereby securing resources
- Build and expand the network of donors; is visible and known in the community through the professional representation of UWSL’s mission at city, business, government, and volunteer events and activities
- Identifies new ways to drive and generate revenue, engage board members, and secure new prospects
- Maintain accurate and detailed donor records and communications in Salesforce (CRM). Committed to data and making data-driven decisions
LEADERSHIP
- Provide direction and support for CEO and board member involvement in resource development and donor relations activities
- Coach and support direct reports in the identification and cultivation of key donors and prospects. Collaborate with Corporate Engagement team and other team members as needed
- Uphold the United Way brand and image through enthusiastic and positive interactions
- Develop and execute engagement plans and revenue forecasts in Salesforce, track actions and performance metrics (personal and team’s) progress towards revenue goals
- Work with the marketing team to create development materials, tools, and other necessary collateral supporting major gifts, grants, planned giving, multi-channel campaigns, events, and other efforts
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Strong public presentation skills in one-on-one, small- and large-group settings

- Experience with CRM (Salesforce preferred)
- Proficient with Google and Microsoft Suites
- Knowledge of moves management, gift tracking/processing, technical-based fundraising strategies, segmentation, multi-channel campaigns, donor relations, and data management
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices.
- The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer and other standard office machinery.
- The employee is required to travel regularly to locations outside of UWSL facilities to set-up displays and presentations in both physical and electronic forms.
- The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Salary: $91,000 to $100,000 per year
