The Director of Community School Partnerships leads the UWSL team in advancing and strengthening our work in Community Schools.  USWL’s Community Schools are built on a foundation of collective impact, and leverage local partnerships and resources to provide comprehensive supports for kids and their families. The Director of Community School Partnerships develops, supports, and supervises (in close collaboration with school principals) Community School Directors in one geographic region. He or she also helps develop relationships with community leaders in these geographies, supporting collective impact partnerships by playing a backbone role within those partnerships – building trust and strong relationships, facilitating planning, decisions and action; fostering constant communication; connecting and aligning strategies and resources; and fostering innovation through the use of shared data, measurement and accountability. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leadership: Play an Adaptive Leadership role both in supporting Community School Directors and in working with partner agencies and school principals.
  • Change Management and Support: Provide strategic and consistent support and coaching to Community School Directors in their work of integrating and aligning strategies within a school setting using the Community School framework and collective impact processes.
  • Trusting and Strong Relationships: Build trust and commitment among partners and principals to work together for the long-term vision.  Clearly communicate, foster trust and maintain a close working relationship with Senior Director of Community School Partnerships.
  • Collaborative Facilitation and Action: Facilitate collaborative decision-making, planning, and evaluation to help Community Schools move forward in accomplishing both short-term tasks and long-term results.
  • Constant Communication: Communicate consistently and effectively both internally among staff and externally with schools and partners.
  • Assist Community School Directors in Continuous Improvement and Data-Driven Decision Making:  Support principals, schools, and Community School Directors in a variety of ways around data, including making data accessible and actionable, identifying successful practices and working towards rapid replication, and fostering a philosophy of Continuous Improvement.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the collective impact team, and with the Resource Development and Marketing Departments to communicate the impact of UWSL initiatives to corporate and individual donors, as well as the broader community, and to help raise resources by making presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Connect UWSL with national Community Schools movement: Connect and be involved with community schools initiatives across the country. Including speaking at conferences and sharing UWSL’s work with local and national organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisory personnel
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (M.A. in a relevant field preferred)
Skills/Experience: 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Deep understanding of the model and philosophy of community schools (i.e. National Center for Community Schools or Coalition for Community Schools)
  • Experience with management of a team including hiring, coaching and supervising
  • Ability to recognize and address conflict and concerns
  • Address disparities related to race, ethnicity, income, and other factors
  • Excellent follow through with team members, Senior Director of Community School Partnerships, other UWSL staff and external partners
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships with diverse individuals from many different backgrounds
  • Flexibility, adaptability and humility
  • Ability to understand and see complex situations, gather information and navigate with grace

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Community Schools Model, experience working in a Community School preferred
  • Managerial experience including hiring, coaching and supervising a team of people
  • Ability to clearly communicate work, foster trust and maintain close working relationships

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays physical and electronic forms. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $51,000 to $60,000 per year
