The Director of Child Development Services provides effective leadership and clinical oversight for the child development staff and the supervision necessary to ensure high quality services across a wide variety of programs and settings. Leads the department toward organizational and clinical objectives in harmony with the mission of Easter Seals to provide premiere services to children with disabilities.
Direct Service:
Participate as the Director of Child Development Services on the Pediatric Leadership Team; assist in guiding department toward organizational and clinical objectives.
- Provide effective leadership and clinical oversight for the child development staff and the supervision necessary to ensure high quality services across a wide variety of programs and settings.
- Provide intervention services as well as intakes and assessments of the functional levels of each individual child; assist in the development of IFSP's and IEP’s; and evaluate and document child and family’s progress towards meeting goals and objectives, daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Instruct and/or provide for in-servicing of staff regarding pediatric child development performance factors and techniques to enhance function in a variety of settings.
- In conjunction with the Director of Pediatric Administration and the Vice President of Pediatrics, participate in the coordination of assignments and program schedules of staff to meet quality and billable requirements.
- Follow-up with families, staff and others to ensure appropriateness of intervention and parent trainings.
- Develop a seamless, complimentary and professional leadership relationship with the administrative staff and Pediatric Leadership Team.
Supervision:
Provide direct supervision to all child development specialists in the field including, but not limited to, accompanying team members to appointments, reviewing documentation for quality, coaching performance, and overseeing the student and volunteer program.
- Leading the recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of prospective child development staff.
- Providing and coordinating orientation for new staff in the field.
- Providing for ongoing training for all interventionists regarding applicable evidenced-based techniques.
- Conducting employee performance appraisals.
- Rewarding and/or disciplining employees.
- Addressing concerns and/or complaints and resolving conflicts, issues and problems working in coordination with supervisor.
- Holding discipline-specific meetings as needed.
- Four (4) years or equivalent paid experience as a Child Development or Special Education professional.
- Experience in the evaluation and treatment of children. Early Intervention experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory and/or program director experience preferred.
- Early Childhood Special Education credential preferred.
