Seeking a full-time individual to provide training services to clients with disabilities in an Adult Day Program. This opportunity includes training for a Class B driver license, to be secured within 90 days of employment to support the transportation needs of the program for daily activities and outings.
Basic Responsibilities:Direct Service
- Serve as a member of the Day Program Team, develop curriculum to meet program goals and objectives to support extensive community integration of individual consumers and provide program supervision as directed.
- Assist in the development of realistic goals and objectives for Individual Service Plans (ISP’s), and evaluate progress towards meeting program and individual goals and objectives biannually.
- Participate in program outings by driving Easter Seals vehicles as assigned by supervisor conducting daily vehicle inspections, mileage documentation and safety as required by Transportation Coordinator.
- Provide assistance with feeding, toileting, hygiene, transferring and communication.
- Carry out program assessments, including questionnaires to consumers, other agencies, staff and providers.
- Coordinate ISP meetings including contacting all participant team members.
- Write ISP and create outcome measurement documentation.
- Plan monthly calendar and coordinate program schedule with other staff and vehicle driver to ensure consumers can participate in activities identified in ISP’s.
- Train consumers in the classroom and in community based settings in accordance with ISP’s to develop and perform specific activities and vocational skills.
- Provide documentation of consumer ISP goals.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques, transfers, use of wheelchair lifts and tie-downs, and understand the consequences of non-compliance.
- Job coach and train consumers in employment settings as needed.
- Perform room maintenance and clean-up duties as required; i.e., dishes, floors, and wheelchairs.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday; 7.5 hours per day. May be required to report to Easter Seals Adult Day Programs in Sacramento and Citrus Heights. Flexible hours during special events.

The starting rate for this position is $11.25 hourly and will increase to $11.82 after successfully securing a Class B license.
Qualifications:Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is recommended; or one (1) year full time experience working with individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Possession of a current valid California driver's license and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.
- Secure a Class II B license within 90 days of hire (training provided).
- Possession of a current certificate in Adult CPR with AED and Basic First Aid from an approved provider.
- Position requires current fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice.
- Position requires pre-placement physical and back assessment.
- Position requires proof of negative TB test within the past twelve (12) months.
- Position requires passing stringent Medical Examination for Commercial Driver Fitness Determination
- Position requires signed acknowledgement of and agreement to the terms of the DOT Substance Abuse Policy.
- Per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, a Class II B driver must agree to submit to random drug testing and pass a drug testing reference for driving positions held in the past 2 years (includes marijuana, both recreational and medicinal as it is still classified as a Schedule I drug under federal standards).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Walk, sit, stand and lift or carry items not weighing more than 25 lbs.
- Push people in wheelchairs and safely lift and transfer consumers up to 100 lbs. without assistance. Over 100 lbs., 2-person assistance will be required.
- Talk and hear.
- Use hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools or controls.
- The employee must regularly reach for items, crouch or kneel.
- Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close to far vision, to include depth perception and visual accuracy.
