United Way of Olmsted County is a social change organization working to improve the lives of people in need in Olmsted County, Minnesota by creating and promoting supports to cause lasting change in conditions for our community.

The Impact Program Manager will change lives in the Olmsted County community through leadership of United Way of Olmsted County’s portfolio of internal programs – community events, collaborative programs, and direct services. Building strong community partnerships to achieve strategic results, engaging volunteers in service, and supporting UWOC’s efforts to deepen outcomes, this role is a key element in providing services to our community.

As part of the Community Impact team, the Impact Program Manager also supports core team activities such as research and analysis, advocacy, community schools, community engagement, and relationship-building with partners across the community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage key UWOC internal programs, including (but not limited to) community events, collaborative programming, and direct service programs.
  • Cultivate community support for impact programs (especially in-kind contributions) through partnership development with businesses, government, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, etc.
  • Manage volunteer engagement efforts, coordinating volunteers to support internal programs and overseeing programs that encourage volunteerism to drive community impact.
  • Oversee the development of new UWOC efforts, where applicable, and provide necessary structure, processes, and systems to reach effective implementation and outcomes.
  • Support key Community Impact team and UWOC efforts (i.e. community engagement, data and evaluation, advocacy, community schools, corporate engagement, etc.).

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Periodically attend UWOC, partner organization, and community events.
  • Support staff in developing projects in resource development, marketing, and other Community Impact work areas.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least three years of experience in program management, volunteer management, or event planning
  • Intercultural competence and demonstrated commitment to advancing racial, economic, and/or gender equity within organizations or communities
  • Knowledge and experience with issues and solutions in education, health, and/or financial stability are strongly desired
  • Experience with local community programs and/or human services is preferred.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends as needed for special events.

  • Ability to keep accurate records, prepare reports, and evaluate program effectiveness

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative, and follow through
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in or willing to learn Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Canva, and other web applications
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for low-income families and diverse communities, sharing knowledge, integrated teaming, and direct and healthy communication non-negotiable.
