Beginning with one half-time employee in 2014 and zero revenue, Social Good Fund has now
grown into a mature, full-service fiscal sponsorship organization with nearly a dozen full-time
core operations employees, over 150 sponsored project employees, and annual revenue of over
$20M. We serve as fiscal sponsor to hundreds of nonprofit/charitable programs and projects
across a wide diversity of program focus and content, in a host of geographic locations both
domestically and abroad.

Demand for our services continues to grow, as does the necessity for the organization to add
capacity to meet the demand.


The Organization: Working at Social Good Fund
Though based in Richmond, CA, we are a 100% virtual office with all of our employees
working from home/shared work spaces . Business hours are M - F, 9a - 5p PST, with
potential flexibility, depending on many factors. In order to succeed in this role, you will need to
have a space where you can work with a strong internet connection, and a comfort with, and
preference for, working remotely. Although we are a remote team, we may provide the
opportunity to travel for in-person convenings once or twice per year.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Job: HR Manager
The HR Manager will be a member of the core operations team and oversee all aspects of
organizational HR processes and practices. The HR Manager will ensure that the organization’s
human resource function is operating smoothly. The manager will develop and maintain
effective practice and policies that ensure employees are empowered, informed and responded
to, while protecting the organization’s interests and ensuring compliance to labor law and best
practice. This may include, but almost certainly will not be limited to:

● Nurturing a positive working environment
● Developing and monitoring overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures
across the organization
● Responding to demands, grievances or other employee issues
● Ensuring legal compliance throughout human resource management function
● Maintaining pay plan and employee benefits programs
● Maintaining employee handbook
● Assessing training needs and monitoring training programs
● Reporting to management and providing decision support through HR metrics
● Other tasks as required

Skills/Experience: 

Required Skills, Knowledge, Approach:
The best candidate for this position will have a minimum of five years of professional HR
experience and be a self-starting, self-respecting, team-playing, positive-thinking, tech-savvy
and consistent person with a passion for doing good in the world. The best candidate will also have:

● Up-to-date knowledge of HR best practice, tools, systems and implementation strategies
● In depth knowledge of best practice relating to labor laws/regulations
● In depth knowledge of employee payroll and benefits practice and compliance
● Have a consistent and reliable workspace: home, shared workspace, etc…
● Be a team player, flexible and present, with strong creative problem-solving skills
● Have a customer-service and mission-driven approach
● Maintain a sense of humor in the face of challenging interactions and situations
● Accept, appreciate and support the diversity and differences of the individuals and
groups we work with
● Be familiar with MS Office and Google Office tools
● Quickly learn online and digital systems that you are not familiar with
● Have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, clear and
concise manner
● Be helpful and supportive of project goals
● Be able to prioritize and multi-task
● Understand the importance of follow-through and responsiveness

Preferred Qualifications:
● Commitment to the nonprofit sector and charitable work
● Familiarity with Zenefits
● Experience working with employees in different US states
● Have knowledge and familiarity with the nonprofit sector
● Have knowledge and familiarity with fiscal sponsorship

Compensation/Benefits: 

Annual Salary:
$70K - $80K, depending on experience and fit.
