The Cal Fresh Outreach Coordinator, under the purview of the 211 Operations Manager, will focus on outreach and the coordination of clients enrolling into Cal Fresh. He or she will work with many different target populations who are facing food insecurities to ensure they are knowledgeable, eligible and enrolled in Cal Fresh, either in person or over the phone. This includes coordinating closely with existing outreach activities in the community to identify where there is a high need but lack of enrollment. He/she will develop and implement new outreach strategies to overcome barriers in the community. This position will also have in-office days, answering, assessing and enrolling 211 callers. This full-time non-exempt position is funded for 3 years and carries the possibility that it may not be renewed if further funding is not obtained. No contract is implied; this position is “at-will” and employment may be terminated at any time by the employee or the employer. The availability of grant funds does not guarantee continued employment.
Outreach Coordination – 65%
- Develop and execute client-centered strategies to assist people who are experiencing food insecurities in person and over the phone
- Identify “hot spots” where there is a lack of enrollment in San Bernardino County
- Perform outreach in identified “hot spot” areas
- Assess individuals who have been prescreened in iCarol and C4 Yourself tools in person or over the phone
- Develop relationships with external partners and coordinate outreach events and/or efforts in the community
- Perform outreach with Coordinated Entry staff to serve the homeless
- Assist with training staff on the Cal Fresh Program and the submission of applications
- Develop a strategy and relationship to assist with Cal Fresh for partner counties
- Identify other community resources and providing referrals to services
- Conduct client follow-up
- Deliver presentations to community organizations about 211 and its services
- Attend the appropriate meetings and collaboratives
- Assist with the creation of reports
- Assist with other enrollment programs as required
- Successfully maintain performance parameters and learning through various means to maintain appropriate knowledge of programs and services

- Compassionate and non-judgmental, with tact and courtesy in expressing options or ideas, recognizing opportunities to enhance community relations.
- Knowledge of local resources
- Excellent writing skills required, including correct grammar and ability to summarize
- Proficient computer skills required including competency with MSOffice and working with a variety of programs
- Some college preferred, Social Service background helpful
- Must be English/Spanish bilingual
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid California Driver’s License and the minimum personal liability insurance coverage required under California law and IEUW insurance carriers
Wage $16.00/hour, payable bi-weekly. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, life, AD&D and long term disability insurance, 11 paid holidays, and accrued vacation and sick-leave.
