United Way of the Columbia-Willamette (UWCW) is seeking self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible individuals for two temporary, full-time Community Account Manager positions for its fall 2018 campaign. By raising funds to make schools, families, and communities stronger, you can help invest in our region’s kids so they are free from poverty and free to reach their potential. Compensation of $18/hour plus business-related expenses. This is a seasonal position; benefits are limited to sick leave and paid parking. Timeframe: 8/13/18 through 12/07/18. To help invest in our region’s kids by organizing fund drives within local companies to provide support for local human service programs. Skills to be developed include, but are not limited to: leadership, fund-raising, public speaking, and relationship-building. Tasks include meeting with company representatives to plan, implement, execute, and close United Way employee campaigns.
CAMs are required to successfully complete classroom training that will develop expanded knowledge in the following areas: awareness of community health and human service delivery systems, United Way of Columbia-Willamette (UWCW) business model, community organizing, fund-raising (as it relates to corporate and individual giving), consultative selling skills, relationship building, and making effective and inspirational presentations (group and one-on-one).
Classroom and on-the-job training are designed to build product knowledge and enhance professional skills. CAMs manage employee campaigns within assigned accounts to achieve established dollar goals. CAMs support United Way's commitment to providing excellent customer service by facilitating communication and relationship-building with key constituencies (local organizations, businesses, and individuals).
Corporate Account Management - 45%
- Provide effective consultation to help companies design effective employee giving campaigns
- Serve as primary liaison with employee campaign coordinators
- Develop and strengthen relationships with companies, donors, and volunteers
- Assist in the development and implementation of employee campaigns in a defined portfolio of companies, as well as supporting overall campaign efforts
- Identify companies and donors for staff to cultivate beyond the campaign period
Campaign Activities/Stewardship - 30%
- Make presentations to individuals and groups with the intent of asking for contributions to support the UWCW mission
- Receive coaching and feedback on utilizing storytelling to outline the positive impact United Way has on the community
- Act as a resource for external and internal audiences
- Play a significant role in securing funding for UWCW by motivating and asking target audiences to give.
- Participate in the organization’s annual thank-a-thon by making phone calls to donors, thanking them for their donations
- Arrange for speakers, tours, and materials to support UWCW messaging during campaigns
- Complete the entire employee campaign process with companies
- Execute strategic plan of Fundraising Committee
Data Management - 25%
- Manage CRM software for the preservation of account giving history, accurate contact data, acknowledgement letters and vital communications for each account in the assigned portfolio

- Coordinate activities with Major and Planned Gifts and/or other UWCW departments

- Focused sales/marketing experience with an applied emphasis on customer relationship building preferred; demonstrated success with effective listening skills
- Ability to manage a portfolio of assigned accounts

Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook required (currently used organizationally)
- Proficient computer skills (familiarity with customer relationship management systems preferred)
- Must have valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is primarily performed indoors, within an open office setting with a moderate noise level and occasional exposure to scents.
- Frequently required to sit/stand at computer in a stationery position.
- Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, phone, and fax machine.
- Frequently required to move about inside the office for meetings, access to information, office equipment, etc.
- Frequently required to travel outside the office to meetings, events, and to pick up contributions in other office and indoor settings.
- Frequently required to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, loading campaign materials into and out of vehicle throughout the day.
