A Senior Vice President of Development is sought to manage a regional field campaign for the Great Rivers Affiliate of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) covering select markets. Responsibilities include overall revenue generation, management of a group of over fundraising and support professionals, integration with mission/health staff and programs, and partnership with volunteer leaders, sponsors, internal and external stakeholders to achieve the AHA mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Areas of Responsibility:
- The Development Senior Vice President will provide supervision and coaching to staff members in the execution of special event fundraisers to achieve aggressive revenue goals in support of our mission.
- The successful candidate leads, inspires, guides, coaches, trains and manages staff to provide targeted, proactive and effective support for aggressive revenue generation and sponsorship activities which includes frequent travel with staff participating in sales calls, modeling behavior and coaching for success.
- Builds powerful partnerships with corporate and community leaders to build a culture of health and fund research and education.
- Analyzes campaign progress and develops strategies for closing gaps.
- Monitors financial activities including income, expenditures and annual budget.
- Serves as member of the Senior Management team, responsible for working interdependently to service the mission through all aspects of AHA/ASA work.
- Work location has some flexibility within the Great Rivers Affiliate (OH, KY, PA, DE, WV).

Skills/Experience:
- The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented, inspiring and visionary leader and road warrior with demonstrated success in achievement of aggressive goals and success developing staff members to achieve their full potential; minimum five years of fundraising/sales experience preferably soliciting individual and corporate gifts; minimum three years’ experience supervising a team; volunteer board management experience; communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, networking and organizational skills with the capacity to manage details.
- Ability to travel throughout five-state region and to national meetings.
- Expected overnight travel of up to 50%. Experience gained through direct internal work on AHA projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
