Summary:Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization providing programs and services to individuals with disabilities and other special needs. We are looking to hire a dynamic nurturing Assistant Teacher to work at the Easterseals Child Development Center in State College.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm., 12 months per year. A comprehensive benefit package is provided.
Basic Responsibilities:As Assistant Teacher, you would be responsible for assisting students with tasks/activities, providing before and/or after school daycare coverage, creating solutions for children with and without disabilities to engage in positive exchanges and assisting in keeping the center clean, orderly and free of hazards.
Qualifications:The Assistant Teacher is required to have one of the following five levels of education/experience:
- Associates degree in Child Development or Bachelor degree required (preferably with major in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related educational field); or
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential obtained through the Council for Professional Recognition (or currently actively in process of obtaining credentialing); or
- HS diploma, or GED, AND 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field required; OR
- HS diploma, or GED, AND 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field; AND one year of work experience with children required; OR
- HS diploma, or GED, and 2 years’ work experience with children required.
- Completion of education credits needed to maintain license/certification required.
- Prior experience in working with children (ages birth to 8) preferred.
- Current valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and acceptable driving record obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation required.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance required.
- Passing of physical examination and TB required.
