The position’s responsibilities will include monthly financial reporting for campaign accounting, grant administration and cash reporting and reconciliation to support the United Way’s mission and other general accounting functions. This position will work with peers and their staff within the organization with direct reporting to the Director of Finance.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Monitor campaign and restricted funding and prepare monthly campaign/restricted funding financial reports and annual reconciliations.
- Oversee all financial project/program grant accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets through the grant/fund period; prepare financial reporting materials for government, corporate or foundation grants.
- Serve as Finance’s primary point of contact for daily cash reporting, monthly bank reconciliations and escheat check process.
- Process budgets in the accounting software and record selected journal entries, as needed.
- Assist in the annual review of funded agency audits.
- Investment and endowment accounting and reporting.
- Assist with budget and forecast preparation.
- Assist in the planning and management of annual audit, including preparation of audit and Form 990 work papers and schedules.
- Actively assist the Director of Finance with other general accounting functions, as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA or MBA preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- At least ten years of strong, hands-on accounting experience desired.
- Knowledge of accounting software programs, (MIP), Windows operating system, Microsoft Office software, Advanced Excel
- Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines and to effectively manage, organize, and prioritize projects and workload with attention to detail and strong follow-through
- Proven ability to work in a participative and collaborative manner, to interact well with a diverse range of people; display a positive attitude with all customers
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and function independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze, problem solve and recommend process changes, as needed
- Ability to adapt to changing environments
- Demonstrates required core competencies in accordance with the UWGPSNJ Competency Framework
- Valid drivers license & insurance and/or reliable transportation required for out-of-office travel as required by the position.
