The Manager of Prospect Research and Moves Management will manage the research program for Resource Development of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) and overall coordination and production of information on prospects and donors. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Strategy Implementation Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify major and principal gift prospects through conducting research on prospective donors, corporations, and foundations.
  • Extract and communicate key information to direct cultivation, briefing, and solicitation strategies
  • Organize and evaluate a prospect’s financial capacity and willingness to partner with UWGPSNJ.
  • Produce in-depth, well-written prospect profiles, briefings, and rating memos based on data-mining and analysis from the donor database and external markers of high-quality donors.

Operating Responsibilities

  • Maintain, update, and enforce a “moves management” system that drives mutually-agreed upon cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects.
  • Facilitate the day-to-day functionality of the “moves management” system.
  • Ensure the tracking of follow-up activities to move prospects through the development stages.
  • Make certain information on stakeholders is up-to-date, accurate, and properly documented.
  • Establish and maintain a process for allocation of new prospects.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Vice President, Resource Development and United Way’s 100th Anniversary Campaign Council.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Support the Resource Development Team in all meetings with potential major donors, corporate partners or foundation supporters.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrates required skills or experience on core competencies in accordance with the UWGPSNJ Competency Framework.
  • One to three years of development or research experience.
  • High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising.
  • Familiarity with the philanthropic industry and sources of philanthropy.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated strategic thinker with a proven record working independently and achieving results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer skills, as required.
  • Passion for UWGPSNJ’s mission to harness, leverage and strategically invest the collective power of donors, advocates and volunteers, to drive measurable results that improve the lives of people in our region.
  • Valid drivers license & insurance and/or reliable transportation required for out-of-office travel as required by the position.
