The Director of Community Impact provides leadership and overall direction to the community impact work of United Way of Escambia County. This position is responsible for the planning, development, management and implementation of strategies and investments to help improve outcomes for individuals and families, and achieve community level change. The Director of Community Impact is a member of the leadership team and as such works to further the mission of UWEC, and to help the organization become a high-performing United Way.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide leadership to, and evaluation of, the community impact staff.
- Build collaborations with key community leaders, funded partners, businesses, state and local entities and community constituents.
- Manage community initiatives as assigned, providing strategic direction and coordinating program components.
- Assist with resource development for community initiatives, including but not limited to foundation, state and federal grants.
- Establish UWEC’s visibility, involvement and leadership in critical health and human service issues.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to improve the quality of life of Escambia County residents.
- Assist in setting vision and priorities and defining outcomes.
- Conduct research, gather data, conduct focus groups, and prepare reports on critical community issues and community needs.
- Identify and monitor key indicators that measure the effectiveness of UWEC’s community impact work.
- Provide for the analysis and maintenance of data necessary for planning and reporting.
- Provide support and development to Community Impact staff, partners and volunteers to ensure the capacity to implement strategies.
- Work closely with Resource Development and Marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging, information sharing and collaborative planning that strengthens United Way initiatives.
- Develop and manage annual department budgets.
Community Investment
- Manage and facilitate community investment process, including agency certification and funds distribution.
- Recruit and train community investment volunteers.
- Provide training and support to partners to ensure outcomes are met.
- Evaluate agency progress towards goals and outcomes.
- Strategically review and revise the community investment process to ensure continuous improvement and expanded engagement.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in non-profit management; public policy, or related field
Skills/Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in human services, planning, or related field. Non-profit experience preferred.
- Experience working in an environment of systemic change.
- Strong collaborative, facilitation and consensus building skills.
- Effective and engaging communicator with excellent written and oral skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience providing leadership to staff and/or volunteers.
- Knowledge of outcome measurement, strategic planning, evaluation and statistical analysis.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and organizations.
- Demonstrated success in program development and grant writing.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
