PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To direct community investment, agency relations, program development, and planning functions of the United Way of the Ohio Valley.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

Community Investment

To organize and supervise staff services to community investment teams.

To assist in recruiting and training of community investment volunteers.

To coordinate all community investment activities in the UWOV service area.

To coordinate with the Controller technical assistance to agencies on budget matters.

To prepare and maintain reports and records relating to agency and community investments histories.

To prepare all reports to the Board of Directors and the Community Investment Steering Committee relative to funding programs.

To assist in promotion of the donor volunteer review process.

Manage the EFSP Program for Daviess County

Agency Relations

To work with new agency executives in an orientation to the United Way system.

To maintain a close liaison with all funded agencies on all matters relating to the United Way operation, including any technical assistance needed by those agencies.

To maintain a working relationship with the overall human service network in any efforts which will improve the efficient and effective delivery of community programs.

Planning

To coordinate the development of all information necessary to assess priority of community needs and the impact of the United Way on the community.

To coordinate the application of such information to the development of annual campaign cases.

The development of strategic plans for all functional areas within the organization.

The ongoing assessment of funding priorities.

Other Responsibilities

Professional support for annual UWOV campaign.

Be a supporting member of the United Way professional team.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the President & CEO

Works with the Controller on (a) budgetary/accounting matters related to agencies’ financial records and (b) computerized organization of all agency, community investments, or planning data.

Works under the supervision of the UWOV Director of Resource Development during the execution of any campaign-related assignments.

Coordinate all staff during the annual community investment process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, social work, or other human service area (preferable emphasis on community organization).  Excellent written and oral skills; ability to organize and analyze data; computer experience; and grant writing experience.  Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with wide range of people.
