FHI 360 is seeking applications for Senior Maternal and Newborn Health Specialists (MNH) for an anticipated project in Burkina Faso and Niger. The objective of the activity will be to improve the quality of, and access to, high impact maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health, family planning, and nutrition services at the community, primary health facility, and referral facility levels in targeted fragile regions. The Sr. MNH Specialists will be responsible for leading and designing maternal and newborn health strategies to improve access and quality of services. The positions will be based in Burkina Faso and are anticipated to report to the project’s Chief of Party.
Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project and the selection of the final applicants is subject to USAID approval.
The Senior Maternal and Newborn Health Specialists will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for community and facility-based services
- Lead design and implementation of community-based and clinical program activities to increase access to quality health services for maternal and newborn health
- Ensure program activities are evidence-based, adapted to local context, and reflect state-of-the-art knowledge and best practices for maternal and newborn health service provision
- Provide strategic leadership for training and mentorship for clinical services in areas of maternal and newborn health services
- Develop and implement strategies to engage youth and ensure that youth (married and non-married) are reached through quality service delivery approaches in line with national and global approaches
- Work with local stakeholders to assess need for, supply of, and utilization of key equipment and ensure trainings and mentorship activities are coordinated to maximize use of available resources
- Ensure compliance with company and government standards
- Contribute to the preparation of annual work plans and progress reports in a timely fashion for submission to USAID
- Document and publish results and lessons learned
- Supervise and coordinate activities of technical staff at the central office and serve as a technical advisor to field level counterparts
- Support performance management and professional development of direct reports, including ongoing feedback, coaching, and career support
- At least 10 years of experience in clinical care and public health, particularly in RMNCH programs
- Experience in providing mentorship at the clinical, regional, and national level
- Experience in strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors
- Knowledge of high impact practices in maternal and newborn health
- Experience with USAID-funded programs preferred
- Knowledge of and work experience in the Sahel preferred
- Willingness to travel at least 33% of time to support all project sites
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with senior Government personnel, international organizations, NGO partners, host country governments, and U.S. Government Agencies
- Professional level of oral and written fluency in English and French
- Relevant computer software skills, including at a minimum, MS Office, etc.
