National Market Development Director

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a National Market Development Director who can be based anywhere in the United States. The primary responsibility of the Market Development Director, in partnership with the local SVP/Executive Director, will be to drive accelerated mission and revenue growth to the market. Some of the responsibilities include:

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure that affiliates financial goals are achieved and strategic priorities are aligned with those of the association
  • Oversee an annual strategic evaluation and planning processes for markets
  • Help markets focus on the highest impact priorities in order to drive goal achievement, while effectively balancing a strategic (big picture) focus with day-to-day execution
  • Work with internal and external partners to develop strategies to significantly increase AHA’s community impact and community change
  • Work with affiliate and market leaders to develop a highly engaged, high performing staff team committed to understanding and achieving the health, revenue and volunteerism goals of the association
  • Monitor and analyze external and internal trends and develop benchmarks, best practices, priorities and focus areas for top markets
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or Advertising
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of Seven (7) years of fundraising experience in volunteer and staff management, managing a major/market territory and strategic planning
  • Previous experience as an Executive Director for a major non-profit organization
  • High level of staff management and leadership experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50% local and overnight stay
