This position works with the Vice President of Collective Impact and the Director of AmeriCorps Programs. The Manager’s primary responsibility is leading the Schools and Communities: Together for Tomorrow (TFT) program designed to bring the community at large into our public schools in a coordinated effort to improve student performance. The program uses AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTAs) members to build the infrastructure and capacity for our schools and communities to work together toward this end.
- In coordination with Director of AmeriCorps Programs, recruit, screen, interview, select, train, supervise and support members associated with HFUW’s AmeriCorps programs.
- Ensure that all AmeriCorps member activity is kept in alignment with project goals CNCS guidelines, and HFUW protocol.
- Constantly monitor progress toward program goals; identify and obtain resources needed to make progress required.
- Motivate AmeriCorps members and encourage sharing of ideas and resources.
- Ensure wherever possible that AmeriCorps member activity is implemented consistently throughout the various sub-sites.
- Serve as the day to day point of contact between the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the Heart of Florida United Way. This includes managing egrants activity in the VISTA workbasket, the recruitment workbasket and the sponsor verification.
- Coordinate all reporting requirements associated with the TFT project.
- Conduct regular site visits, observe members providing service and conduct biannual member evaluations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding personnel and organizational information; model the HFUW Code of Ethics policy at all times.
- Review member expense reports and track their sick and vacation time.
- Assist with planning and implementing sustainability strategies.
- Coordinate gatherings of local AmeriCorps project supervisors to share best practices, coordinate resources and plan regional service projects.
- Coordinate multi-stream trainings for HFUW and community AmeriCorps projects.
The Manager also works with the Director to strategically align and implement national service initiatives that support the Heart of Florida United Way’s (HFUW) overall goals in income, education, health and basic needs. These initiatives include (but are not limited to) the VISTA Summer Associate Program, AmeriCorps Pathways to Success Program, and the ReadingPals Program.
