Maintain onsite office hours at Seminole State College of Florida to assist students with crisis, social service referral contacts, and wraparound supports. Provide individuals with crisis de-escalation, problem solving, brief assessment, and appropriate on-campus/ social service referrals. All client and resource information will be recorded accurately in the appropriate database.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Act as Point of Contact (POC) for internal referrals and community or campus referrals
- Assess students’ needs or situation using pertinent questions and the principles of active listening
- Uphold a non-judgmental attitude when interacting with students, displaying sensitivity to all cultural backgrounds
- Knowledge of/ or willingness to learn Financial Aid systems and requirements
- Access multiple 2-1-1 databases for resources and appropriately refer contacts
- Provide appropriate screenings for specialized programs or appointment setting
- Demonstrate proficiency in using multiple types of contact center software and computer hardware
- Maintain accurate data collection on all students in the appropriate database
- Maintain ongoing engagement with clients through follow-up calls
- Complete all training for new programs and services related to 2-1-1 and providing feedback as needed
- Attend outreach events that promote the messaging of Destination Graduation
- Work with Seminole State College of Florida staff to locate and coordinate resources
- Ensure that the highest degree of professionalism and customer service is met
- Advocate for students when appropriate
- Other duties as assigned by Destination Graduation manager
Educational Background:
Associates degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology or related field preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical demands include sitting for extended periods of time, bending, occasional lifting of items weighing up to approximately 25 pounds, moving throughout the campus, occasionally traveling to outside meetings, regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, copier, fax and computer. Reliable transportation is required.Job involves frequent interactions with students.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years of client intake or assessment experience preferred.
- Prior experience working with college student population and related services preferred (particularly financial aid and student services).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suites - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Proficiency in Google Suites - Sheets, Docs, Forms, and Drive required.
- Ability to effectively assess client needs and demonstrate sensitivity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to employ critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to compute basic mathematical functions.
- Ability to employ organizational skills effectively.
