The Position:
The Senior Communications Designer is a passionate multimedia storyteller responsible for our visual style, executing our brand look and feel across all platforms: in video, print, digital, live events for internal and external communications, business development, and client services. He or she will create inspired concepts and design solutions, working with the communications team as well as other stakeholders. The Senior Communications Designer will also direct the work of vendors and contractors as needed.
Essential Functions & Summary of Responsibilities:
• Act as the arbiter of our brand visual style, working with the Communications team and elements from our branding agency to develop and execute a strategy for creative and engaging media content.
• Communicate and translate our brand guidelines to stakeholders throughout the organization and vendors.
• Translate the brand guidelines into projects for video, print, digital, and events, working across multiple channels to design and produce in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
• Design templates for PPT, pitch decks, and sales materials.
• Design projects for multiple audiences, adapting a core concept to address a variety of needs and uses.
• Develop and manage project scopes and timelines.
• Research and contribute new ideas and approaches that amplify the SIS brand appeal to target audiences.
• Consult on design of website, working with communications team and digital agency.
• Consult on UI and client service needs.
• Ability to identify talented photographers, illustrators, and contract designers and negotiate contracts and work assignments, providing art direction and guidance to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Develop and coordinate budget for photography and illustration assets.
• Create and maintain shareable visual assets for SIS.
• Ability to present to senior and executive leadership

Qualifications Requirement (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
• Excellent design and production skills.
• Effective and clear communicator and collaborator.
• Strong project management skills.
• Self-motivated, client-focused, patient, organized, detail oriented.
• Proficiency and speed with graphic design software: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and WordPress. Knowledge of video software a plus.
• Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strategic thinker, able to contribute to team brainstorming sessions and solve issues that arise for internal clients.
Education/Training Requirements:
• 6+ years graphic design experience, including roles as senior graphic designer or art director
• BFA or MFA in Graphic Design or 5-7 years of equivalent experience in a related field.
• Desirable: interest in civic design, intersection of tech and policy, tech industry experience
