The Manager, Nutrition Programs, contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition, food safety and capacity initiatives for emergency food programs (EFP). This position will be responsible for developing and implementing educational and resource materials to ensure client choice programmatic best practices for community partners. The manager conducts compliance site visit reviews to EFPs in all 5 boroughs, nutrition and food safety workshops, and develops educational and resource materials to ensure EFPs have the necessary nutrition and food safety-related knowledge and skills. This position also provides general program support and assists the Senior Manager, Nutrition Programs, to ensure that nutrition resource program deliverables are met.
- Manages the client choice grant program, including developing application, program, monitoring materials, and providing technical assistance to partners.
- Develops and conducts nutrition and food safety workshops for EFP staff at UWNYC and at community partner sites.
- Monitors EFPs for compliance with food distribution, reporting, and communication requirements and provide onsite technical assistance and training.
- Writes and edits monthly nutrition and food safety newsletters for distribution to UWNYC EFP partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Registered Dietitian with one to two years’ experience in community nutrition/public health OR non-RD with a minimum of three years of professional community nutrition experience.
- Understanding and knowledge of community nutrition issues, poverty and hunger issues, and general health statistics as they relate to NYC.
- Experience in creating and implementing nutrition education at the community level.
- Strong presentation, public speaking, writing, and meeting facilitation skills.
- Interest in and knowledge of cooking and food budgeting
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, driven, proactive, collaborative, flexible, and good-natured.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook)
- Experience with Adobe InDesign a plus.
