In this role, the Healthcare Quality Improvement Consultant identifies, develops and manages relationships with hospitals, outpatient practices and other key stakeholders in using “ Get With The Guidelines ” to improve quality of care for heart disease and stroke patients. This person will serve as a healthcare consultant, business developer, clinical educator and account manager in securing new relationships with hospitals and outpatient practices. Additionally, this consultant will work to deepen the engagement with current customers in maximizing Get With The Guidelines within their organizations. This consultant will also work with state health departments, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), quality improvement organizations, health plans and other agencies to ensure that our quality improvement initiatives are key priorities within their organizations and communities.
- Fully understand the benefits of GWTG and possess the talent to translate that knowledge into sustainable quality and process improvement within the acute care and clinic settings.
- Implement GWTG within area hospitals and outpatient clinics. This includes working with current customers and identify and securing new customers.
- Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with hospital accounts, and other key healthcare stakeholder activities with regards to quality improvement
- Work with hospital and clinic teams (physicians, nurses, administration, quality improvement, EMS, etc.) on quality and process improvement initiatives, with goal of achieving improvements in quality of care delivered at each hospital and clinic served.
- Engage and educate the medical community with regards to our initiatives (lead regional Task Forces, conduct workshops and trainings, host and present on teleconferences, etc.).
- Build meaningful volunteer partnerships to advance the mission of the AHA.

- Experience in hospital quality improvement, project management, cardiovascular fields and/or research experience is highly desirable;
- Must be results-driven, able to multi-task and manage multiple projects, prioritize efforts towards key results, possess trouble-shooting skills, have prompt follow-up on customer issues, and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- Experience in customer account management and ability to build powerful partnerships in healthcare community to accomplish goals, including ability to identify and implement new opportunities for GWTG.
- Experience with research or data analysis a plus (no experience with statistical software packages is needed (i.e. SAS or SPSS)).
- Ability to use Microsoft products, computer software, analyze reports, learn new software applications, and maintain accurate data.
- Must be willing to travel within required territory approximately 30% of the time, with some overnight travel and work outside standard hours, as needed.
