Manager, EducateNYC, AIDP

Position Summary: The UWNYC AIDP initiative supports 27 CBOs, working in 45 NYCDOE Community Schools, serving approximately 20,000 elementary, middle and high school students and their families. The Manager, EducateNYC, AIDP- Community Schools, will work closely with the Director, EducateNYC and work in collaboration with the NYCDOE Office of Community Schools (OCS) Program Managers and Community Based Organizations(CBOs) Community School Directors (CSD). He/She will have administration oversight of the UWNYC Attendance Improvement and Dropout Prevention (AIDP) Initiative and be responsible for coaching CSD’s, using data, in an effort to increase the attendance and participation rates of students.   The Manager may assist with additional projects as requested by the Director, EducateNYC Community Schools.

Job Responsibilities:

Program and Data Analysis:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with CBO Community School Directors (CSDs) and OCS Program Managers
  • Provide on-going data and technical support to CSDs to ensure increase in student attendance, increase in High School completion rate and reduction in school drop-out
  • Track and analyze community school attendance data to support schools in adopting data driven strategies and appropriate interventions for students
  •  Work with EducateNYC team to design and facilitate regular attendance improvement webinars
  • Create and oversee monthly attendance incentive challenges and other attendance incentive projects
  • Create individual school recommendations based on attendance data analysis
  • Document and address program challenges, and ensure successful collaboration between partners
  • Other duties as needed for successful implementation and outcomes of AIDP initiative

Team Leadership:

  • Contribute to UWNYC’s learning culture through participation in team meetings, actively and knowledgeably sharing program challenges and accomplishments, using both data and information gained from regular interactions with partners, and being current on educational issues at large.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Services/Social Work, Nonprofit Management or related field and at least 2 years of experience in, administrative and operational support work. School-based management experience is desired.  Master’s Degree a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Superior data management and analytics skills
  • Proven ability to set priorities, work independently and take initiative, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with moderate supervision
  • Able to develop and maintain relationships with multiple internal and external parties
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling and coordinating multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Familiarity with program budgets and budget modifications  
  • Commitment to the mission of United Way of New York City; interest in issues of poverty, youth development and education
  • Entrepreneurial, innovative mindset
