The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an Donor Engagement Director in our Mid-Atlantic/Founders Affiliate office (Location is Flexible) .
The Donor Engagement Director is responsible for developing strategy and driving the stewardship and donor engagement process for assigned geographic area leveraging Affiliate and National events and activities as well as creating and implementing new engagement opportunities. Additional responsibilities include ensuring assigned Cor Vitae and Paul Dudley White Society goal(s) in both number of members and overall fiscal year financial goal(s) are met.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops and implements the Cor Vitae strategy for assigned geographic area by identifying and partnering with local and national events where Cor Vitae experience is leveraged. Meets on site with Affiliate leadership and their teams at least twice per year to strategically plan and support implementation of Cor Vitae and Paul Dudley White Society strategies including renewal process, new potential donors and engagement with field staff teams. Provides for continuous quality improvement and strategic implementation of Cor Vitae and Paul Dudley White efforts beyond special events focus to increase retention and membership.
- Completes 150 Face to Face Donor Visits in a fiscal year. Enters all engagements, visits and interactions into customer relations management (CRM) tool within 72 hours of engaging donor.
- Develops and implements overarching stewardship strategy within assigned geography, ensuring donors are actively stewarded from point of organizational entry through engagement with major gifts and Charitable Estate Planning.
- Meets or exceeds fiscal year targets for retention, new members and financial goals for Cor Vitae Society and Paul Dudley White Society for assigned geography.
- Leverages National Events (Red Dress Collection, Scientific Sessions, ISC) in a planned, coordinated, polished and systematic fashion ensuring a seamless and perfected donor experience so that the Individual Giving Team can ensure an exceptional donor experience.
Educational Background:
Bachelor Degree from a four-year college or university.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working directly with donors with at least three (3) years of experience working with donors of high net worth.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills with all levels of staff, prospects, volunteers and donors
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills,
- Ability to initiate and follow-through on opportunities to engage with volunteers and donors.
- Experience using donor relationship management software, such as BBCRM, Blackbaud, Dynamics and/or Raiser’s Edge.
- Must be able to travel overnight approx. 25% of the time.
- Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape.
