The United Way of Greater New Bedford (UWGNB) fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in the nine communities it serves. We are actively involved in our communities, supporting organizations and strategically creating initiatives where gaps exist.  The organization is restructuring its development department to be more strategic, efficient and well positioned.  The corporate sector has a long standing partnership with UWGNB.  Workplace campaigns are the backbone of UWGNB’s revenue.  This position will focus on workplace giving campaigns, corporate giving, corporate engagement, and sponsorships.  Workplace campaigns take place not only in corporate settings, but also in the nonprofit and public sectors.

This position is a combination of strategic advisor, fundraiser and skilled relationship manager. This person is a self-starter who is motivated by making a difference in the community and hitting and exceeding target goals. The Director of Corporate Relations plays an important and visible role within UWGNB and the community. Working under the direction of the Vice President of Development, the Director of Corporate Relations develops, implements, and refines strategies to increase retention and growth of corporate donor base and related financial and other resources in support of UWGNB’s mission.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage, plan and implement the annual Workplace Giving Campaign conducting approximately 100  presentations to executives, employees, local corporations and other entities
  • Responsible and accountable for problem solving, critical thinking and decision making to reach target results through strategy implementation
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to existing partnerships in order to grow revenue through innovation and development of new ideas for organization and employee involvement
  • Provide the “ideal experience” for constituents including promptly handling inquiries, valuing donor support and engagement and regularly communicating impact those investments are making in the SouthCoast region
  • Identify and cultivate new relationships with organizations to raise and leverage both financial and non-financial resources to achieve UWGNB’s organizational goals
  • Manage donor data efficiently and accurately utilizing CRM software
  • Identify, recruit, train and manage corporate volunteers, including campaign coordinators, loaned executives, and other staff assigned to the Workplace Giving Campaign
  • Maintain a comprehensive gift acceptance process including, receipting/acknowledgement and transmittal for all workplace campaigns, sponsorships and gifts-in-kind
  • Accurately project annual and multi-year revenue
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of all UWGNB events
  • Participate alongside volunteers in order to enhance the engagement experience with corporate partners
  • Create and prepare a multitude of documents and reports, including those for the Board of Directors stewardship reports and sponsorship proposals
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Development
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university and/or combination of equivalent employment and education experience required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Candidate must have at least five years’ work experience in non-profit fundraising or sales as well as knowledge of account management, project management and strategic planning.
  • Must possess superb written skills.
  • Effective public speaking skills and training/facilitation experience is required.
  • Experience using donor management or CRM software a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required.
  • Position requires extensive local travel and occasional evening and weekend appointments.
