Under the supervision of the Birth to Three Director, provides direct interpretation for evaluations, meetings and visits with Birth to Three families.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides direct interpretation for evaluations, meetings and visits with Birth to Three families.
  • Provides translation of documents, including but not limited to; evaluation reports, IFSP’s, department documents, letters, and visit notes.
  • Displays and upholds Easterseals core values of collaboration, respect, caring, excellence and accountability.  Consistently demonstrates caring for the community we serve, for one another, and for the organization they are part of, and contributes to building trust, pride and camaraderie.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Educational Background: 
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Speak, read, and write fluently in at least two languages, including English and Spanish
  • Manage work schedule to meet deadlines
  • Render spoken messages accurately, quickly, and clearly
  • Ability to concentrate while others are speaking or moving around the environment
  • Sensitive to cultural differences and expectations
  •  Ability to get along with other team members
  • Carefully listen when interpreting for families and others to ensure that they hear and interpret correctly.
  • Speak clearly in the languages they are conveying.
  • Ability to write clearly and effectively in the languages being translated.
  • Ability to navigate to homes, schools and other community locations.
  • Computer skills including word and email.
  • This position may be authorized to have access to protected Health Information (PHI) to perform specific job duties. 
  • Valid CT Driver’s license
  • 2 years interpretation and translation experience strongly preferred
  • Home visiting experience preferred
