The Development Officer will maintain and build relationships in an assigned workforce portfolio. Their objective is to raise dollars, achieve annual goals, and identify opportunities for growth in existing and new campaigns while utilizing volunteers and community stakeholders to meet and exceed goals. Secondarily, this position will also seize opportunities to partner with companies and engage workforce employees in United Way’s work year-round on specific United Way Community Engagement strategies that may yield non-financial resources. The position will be located in our Cobb County Office and travel to surrounding counties.
Areas of Responsibility:
Strategy:
- Strategize with supervising Regional Director, Senior Donor Engagement staff, peers, and Major Gifts staff to identify high potential accounts and develop a fundraising and year-round engagement strategy for each account based upon targeted research and CSR focus at each company.
- Identify, strategize, and pursue new business accounts within select industries
- Support campaign volunteers through research on industry/geographic trends and develop and implement peer-to-peer engagement strategies for new and existing company lead executives.
Management:
- Manage account portfolio focused on raising resources and exceeding goals in workplace campaigns.
- Work closely with key volunteers and executives within accounts to plan & implement workplace campaigns and implement year-round engagement strategies in active companies.
- Develop strategies for cultivation and development of new accounts
- Closely manage Loaned Executive workforce ensuring workplace campaigns are executed in a timely manner and with strong attention to customer service and campaign results are audited when possible before LE departure.
Donor Engagement:
- Strategic engagement of companies year round through creation and implementation of specific donor/corporate engagement strategies in partnership with CE and/or Volunteerism.
Data and Reporting:
- Strong attention to detail and focus on updating campaign and individual donor information in CRM including, but not limited to, corporate contact(s), employee count, UWGA involvement, company processing information, campaign best practices, campaign start/end dates, etc.
- Manage campaign reports on a weekly basis, updating unit projections/total-in amounts in real time. Also, cross-reference assigned account totals with department reports (i.e. Recap, Over/Under, New Business).
- Work closely with Development Operations team and Pledge Processing as necessary to ensure processed accounts reflect audit paper work and envelopes are audited completely and correctly.
- Investigate campaign results that have not arrived and secure results.
Educational Background:
Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree a plus
Skills/Experience:
- Ability to generate, cultivate, and “close” with existing and new donors, corporate and individual
- Ability to plan strategically, set priorities, multi-task, plan work, design approaches, and close commitments
- Ability to set and reach specific goals
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to create meaningful relationships (inside and outside of UWGA)
- Ability to analyze numbers for discovery and planning purposes & maintain CRM records.

EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years fundraising or sales experience with excellent communication skills
- Volunteer management experience a plus
