United Way of Dane County is seeking a full-time Assistant Director/Director of Strategic Collaborations to work in United Way’s Community Impact Department.  This Community Impact department supports the organization's investments in community programs, evaluation and reporting measures and community partner collaborations.  The Assistant Director/Director will be responsible for working to increase the scale, impact and effectiveness of our priority initiatives that focus on housing, employment and basic needs through proposal development and continuous program monitoring and evaluation.  The position requires strong writing and project management skills, experience in proposal writing and knowledge of local community issues.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsibilities include proposal writing and creative program development, program monitoring, evaluation, research and learning as well as partnership building and collaboration. 
Educational Background: 
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, English, communications, education, social work, or related field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit or business settings, or related fields; ideally, experience with community-based, human services programs, particularly employment and training programs is desired.
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively across several departments, handling multiple projects, and under frequent deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive relationships with diverse individuals, organizations and communities, including staff, volunteers, donors, and community.
