Development Consultant, Youth Markets

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Development Consultant, Youth Markets . The ideal candidate can be located anywhere in GRA that is conducive to travel in the assigned markets. The Development Consultant provides partnership and consulting on Youth Market initiatives to all markets throughout the Great Rivers Affiliate. This person will be the lead strategist for the adoption of the Kids Heart Challenge program as well driving revenue through Youth Market Sponsorship and Life is Why We Give campaigns. This Consultant will partner with the Senior Vice President of Youth Markets on campaign management and strategy-providing strategy and direction for key Youth Market territories. The Consultant is responsible for analyzing data for trends and recommendations to ensure events meet and exceed fiscal year goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Product Strategy and Innovation

  • Strategist for adoption of Kids Heart Challenge
  • Lead advocate, strategist and coach for growing non-participant income revenue streams within YM; includes sponsorship and Life is Why We Give campaigns

Campaign Management

  • Supports and partner to SVP of YM to help drive revenue in focus areas and priorities
  • Acts as the liaison between national center and GRA Youth Markets team
  • Provides consultation to YM VP Teams and staff managing key YM territories

Training and Coaching

  • Provides quarterly “Just in Time” trainings for Youth Market team
  • Acts as Microsoft Dynamics “power-user”, lends support and guidance with the YM business processes. Serves in a back-up role to the GRA Dynamics Trainer

Operations/Administration

  • Supervises Youth Market Customer Service Center
  • Manages and oversees NEC Call Projects

Travel

  • Travels throughout the GRA markets 25% of the time
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated success and knowledge in fundraising or successful outside sales that involves building and maintaining sales relationships
  • Demonstrated success and knowledge of fundraising through youth market campaigns
  • Ability to coach, mentor, evaluate and monitor work performed by field event staff; indirectly accountable for their success in meeting and exceeding fundraising goals
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training, ability to speak publicly
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation and motivation
  • Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices and techniques and the ability to analyze goals and fundraising reports in order to achieve maximum results
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, but also to work independently
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel throughout the territory which may include some nights and weekends as needed. Travel is approximately 25%.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory background check.
