The Director of Speech and Language Pathology Services leads the department toward organizational and clinical objectives in harmony with the mission of Easter Seals to provide premiere services to children with disabilities.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Direct Service:

Provide supervision and clinical oversight to the Easter Seals Pediatric Speech and Language Pathology team.

  • Guide the Speech department toward organizational and clinical objectives.
  • Provide effective leadership and clinical oversight for the SLP staff and the supervision necessary to ensure high quality services across a wide variety of programs and settings.
  • Provide therapy services as well as intakes and assessments of the functional levels of each individual child; assist in the development of IFSP's and IEP’s; and evaluate and document child’s progress towards meeting individual goals and objectives, daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Instruct and/or provide for in-servicing of staff regarding pediatric speech and language performance factors and techniques to enhance function in a variety of settings.
  • Participate with other leaders in the coordination of assignments and program schedules of staff to meet quality and billable requirements.

Supervision:

Provide direct supervision to all speech and language pathology staff team members in the field and  accompany team members to appointments, review documentation for quality, supervise SLP  assistants, supervise Clinical Fellowship Year/Required Practical Experience staff members, and oversee the student and volunteer program.

  • Responsible for leading the recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of prospective SLP staff.
  • Provide and coordinate orientation for new staff in the field.
  • Provide for ongoing training for all therapists regarding applicable evidenced-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals.
  • Reward and/or discipline employees, working in coordination with the Vice President of Pediatric Services and Vice President of Human Resources.
  • Address concerns and/or complaints and resolve conflicts, issues and problems working in coordination with supervisor.
  • Hold discipline-specific meetings as needed.
Educational Background: 
Minimum of a Masters degree from an accredited school of Speech and Language Pathology.
Skills/Experience:

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of equivalent paid experience as a staff level Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Experience in the evaluation and treatment of children.
  • Previous supervisory and/or program director experience preferred.
