Summary:The Personal Care Assistant’s responsibilities at the Center for Training and Wellness include providing and assisting the adults with their individual personal care needs and documenting accurately and in detail the services provided. When not providing personal care, the Personal Care Assistant will assist in the classrooms and/or other duties as assigned.
Basic Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned:
Personal Care- Follow the prescribed Personal Care Plan or written directions.
- Assist or provide personal care including but not limited to toileting, showering, ambulating, transferring, changing clothes, snack and meal time preparation, and feeding.
- Document and report changes in the adult’s physical condition, hygiene, behavior or appearance to the RN. If the RN is not available information is provided to the Case Manager, the Assistant Director or the Director.
- Respect the adult’s right to privacy and confidentiality.
- Chart accurately and in detail the services provided on the Personal Care tracking sheets and submit at the end of each business day.
- Monitor supply inventory to ensure supplies are available, including Easterseals purchased supplies and supplies that must be provided from the individual’s home.
- Maintain a safe and organized work space.
- Utilize positive behavior intervention techniques, remaining respectful of the adult’s individuality, to manage and promote behavior that would help to ensure the health and safety of the individual, his or her peers and staff.
- Monitor and know the location of the adults that responsibility is assigned.
- Ensure that all adults remain actively engaged in meaningful activities.
- Record accurate and detailed documentation regarding each adult’s objectives and behavior reports; submit daily/monthly documentation by the 2nd business day of the following month or as requested by program administrators. Additional written or verbal reports and documentation may be assigned.
- Provide input into the development of the Individual Program Plan both verbally and in written form.
- Comply with and provide all therapy, program objectives, personal care, and medical instructions for each adult assigned throughout the program day.
- Ensure staff to adults served ratios (1-10) is maintained at all times in the training area.

Education and/or Experience:- High School diploma and two years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Maintain PCA Certification or greater as determined by the regulatory agencies
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Valid Arkansas Driver's License
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License if required
- Ability to obtain additional credentials based on future organizational and/or regulatory requirements
